We, humans, are the only beings that are awake and aware of our lives throughout the day.
We have vivid dreams, too, when we sleep each night. But it is not always easy to remember our dreams if we wake up in the morning with no memory of them at all.
What does it mean when people don’t dream?
In this article, we’ll explore 12 spiritual meanings of not dreaming or forgetting about them…
So let’s begin.
1) You are not ready to remember
The easiest answer is that you may not be ready to remember your dreams because they contain information that at this point in your life you are not prepared to deal with—so your unconscious mind just won’t let you remember them.
Perhaps the dream was unpleasant, or it could have been a very powerful and meaningful one.
When people who dream on a regular basis suddenly stop dreaming, it can be because the unconscious mind has decided that they need time to process what was revealed in the dream.
Maybe your way of thinking needs to be changed. Or maybe you are feeling vulnerable in some way and need to protect yourself.
It could also be that your dream was negative, so it couldn’t have contained any information that was too powerful for you to process right now.
2) You don’t love yourself enough yet
If you are still not willing to go beyond the level of conscious self-awareness, then you are not ready for conscious recall of a dream.
You may want to change your life in some way, and using a dream as inspiration is a wonderful way to do this. But if you don’t love yourself enough yet, then you are not ready to fully embrace the deeper levels of your soul.
You may also be sabotaging yourself by refusing to grow and evolve.
When you refuse to love yourself as much as you can, your unconscious mind is likely aware of this and will put up roadblocks so that you don’t continue to gain conscious awareness of yourself.
This is often referred to as projection in dream interpretation.
3) Get help from a real psychic
The signs above and below will give you a good idea about the spiritual meanings of not dreaming or forgetting about them.
But a surefire way to know for sure is to speak with a gifted advisor.
They can answer questions like why am I not dreaming anymore? Why I can’t remember my dreams?
The problem is finding someone you can trust.
That’s why I recommend Psychic Source. When I signed up for a reading, they provided me with a unique insight into where my life was going, including who I am meant to be with.
Having tried several online advisors, I think they’re the most caring, compassionate, and helpful network of gifted advisors out there.

4) Your life is not in balance
If you are at the stage of life where you are not balanced—meaning that your mind, body, and spirit aren’t all on the same page—then you will be unable to remember your dreams.
If you don’t feel good in your body and aren’t eating well for some reason, then it will also make it hard for you to remember your dreams.
5) You are going through a “Dark Night of the Soul”
Your mind and body are not in balance at the moment. There is something going on in your life that makes your mind feel like it is separating from your body.
This can happen at transition points in our lives—like when you are entering into or exiting a relationship. It can also be brought on by a drastic change like when you get married, have children, or retire from work.
6) You’re not ready to feel
You may not want to feel the way you feel right now, and your unconscious mind knows this.
It is protecting you from feeling the way you do because it knows how painful it will be for you when you wake up.
If your unconscious mind sees that there is a disconnect between how your body feels and the emotion behind how you feel, it will make sure that it prevents you from remembering your dreams so you can’t fall back into the same pattern.
Remembering dreams can be a very powerful way of understanding yourself.
When you are ready, it will happen. The most important thing is to trust your unconscious mind and allow it to help you. If you can do this, then there is no dream that is too difficult for you to remember.
7) You don’t trust yourself enough yet
You may be afraid that what you find in your unconscious mind will cause you to obsess about it for a very long time, and you, therefore, don’t want to remember it because you will become overly attached to it.
But if you want more clarity on this, I’d suggest speaking to a gifted advisor at Psychic Source.
I mentioned them earlier. They have helped me out in the past and I’ve always found them honest and compassionate in their readings.
So instead of trying to solve all your love problems on your own, speak to an advisor who’ll give you the answers you’re looking for.

8) You can’t gather the information quickly enough
Your unconscious mind would like you to remember one thing, but your personality makes it very difficult for you to do this.
It always takes you a long time to gather your thoughts, and it is very hard for you to make any decisions without spending a huge amount of time analyzing everything.
So your unconscious mind may be saying to you that you are not ready to remember yet, because it is trying to tell you something will happen if you try.
It could be that something positive will happen for you, but it could also be that something negative will happen if you remember the dream now.
9) Your dreams can be a warning
As humans, we tend to forget the messages gleaned from our dreams.
However, when you get a warning that something is going to happen, or things are not right in your life, then it means things are about to change for the better.
The reason why people do not remember their dreams is because they choose not to act upon the wisdom found there.
If you didn’t know how your dream really meant something important to your waking life, then you’d ignore it.
10) The health of your mind in poor condition
The most common meaning of not dreaming is that your mental health is in a poor condition.
It does happen to some people that they have a lot on their minds and nothing happens in their dreams.
But normally, if you have enough rest, dream normally. If you don’t, it means that there are some things that concern you deeply but you can’t address them properly until you’re in the perfect state of mind.
It’s an old maxim: “What’s bothering you will bother you until it gets resolved.
11) The state of your emotions
Since the mind is directly connected to the body, the absence of dreams can suggest that there’s a conflict between your emotions and your physical health.
In other words, there’s a mismatch between what you feel and what you need.
If you’re worried about something and not able to find the reason for it, dreaming would be impossible at least for a while.
Not only that, but sometimes events are beyond our control and we simply can’t dream about them.
12) You don’t have a message from your subconscious
Dreams are messages from your subconscious mind.
If you don’t remember your dreams or if you completely forget about them, it could mean that your mind doesn’t want to share any information with you for now.
How to remember your dreams
Now that you know what kind of dreams you are not ready for, it is time to find a way to remember them.
You may want to lie in bed with your eyes closed and try to visualize the dream you had last night. Maybe you can hear some of the voices in your head—or see some of the objects that are present in the dream.
Your unconscious mind will be able to help you get into your subconscious mind and retrieve more information about the dream.
You will also have a feeling in your body that represents the dream. This feeling is your intuition telling you something about your unconscious mind’s message to you.
It may be a bright light or heavy feeling in your body, or perhaps it is a sensation at the center of your chest or back.
Whatever it is like, trust this intuition of yours and listen to it—even if it seems weird to you.
Sometimes you may forget the dream while you are awake, which means that you can’t remember it at all.
But this doesn’t mean that you will forget it at all—when your intuition, body, and mind are in balance and all three are working together, the parts of your mind that hold a stored memory will let go so that the stored memory can be retrieved.
You may want to try taking a nap before you go to sleep at night. This will give your body more time to rest and can increase the chances that you remember your dreams in your sleep.
You might also want to increase the time you spend sleeping if you are trying to remember something in particular.
If you are trying to remember a dream, I would suggest that you write it down immediately when you wake up—before doing anything else, including eating or showering.
This will give your mind an opportunity to remember the dream even more, and it will also increase your trust in your unconscious mind because you are giving it a chance to give you the message that it wants.
Ways to help remember dreams better
Here are some tips and tricks to help your memory better. We’ll start with the basics and work our way up to the more difficult insights.
1) Keep a dream journal
This sounds simple, but it’s actually one of the most important tools in your dream-recollection arsenal.
When you wake up in the middle of the night, don’t just turn over and go back to sleep. Instead, sit up, write down your dream as best as you can remember it, and then go back to bed.
If you do this every night for a couple of weeks, then you’ll have an incredible collection of dreams that are ready for analysis when you are ready to tackle them.
2) Exercise
A regular exercise routine can make a huge difference in your ability to remember dreams.
Since exercise increases blood flow to the brain, keeping your brain physically active will make it more difficult to forget your dreams later on, when you enter REM sleep.
3) Stimulate
The part of the brain where we store our memories is called the hippocampus. The hippocampus will naturally “forget” things if they aren’t stored in there frequently enough.
One way to flush information out of the hippocampus is to give it more information to “remember”.
This can be done by writing down everything you remember from a dream, or by engaging in activities that stimulate your senses as soon as you wake up.
4) Be mindful
Meditation can be a great way to tap into your subconscious and help you remember your dreams more easily.
It allows you to “be here now”, instead of being stuck in the past or future, and allows you to catch yourself when you are drifting off into sleep.
5) Drink tea
Tea contains L-theanine and other compounds that can help promote a deeper sleep state. This will help you stay more alert throughout the day, so you can remember your dreams more easily.
6) Eat the right foods
Your diet has a powerful effect on your brain. It can even cause it to shrink!
Start eating foods that promote brain health and you will notice an increase in your dream awareness, ability to remember dreams, and creativity.
The better you remember your dreams while they’re still fresh in your mind, the more you’ll be able to enjoy them later on.
Dreams are messages from your higher self to your waking consciousness
The dream state exists within us all, but we don’t always remember them. The dream state is not just a random brain activity that happens.
Dreams are messages from our higher self to our waking consciousness. When we awaken, they disappear and we usually forget their significance or meaning.
The reason why dreams don’t come back to our memory so easily is that they are not made of the same substance as what we experience through our senses in the physical world.
Hopefully, the spiritual meanings above will shed some light on why you are not dreaming or forgetting about them.
But if there’s a part of you that still wants to know more, I recommend speaking to a genuine advisor.
