12 spiritual meanings of vivid dreams (+ what they are)

Have you ever had a dream that feels more real than waking life?

Maybe it was so vivid, that you could almost touch the people or objects in your dream. Perhaps it was so strange and unique that you couldn’t stop thinking about it.

Whether or not you have experienced any particularly vivid dreams recently, take a few minutes to read through this blog post for its insight into your subconscious mind!

14 spiritual meanings of vivid dreams

1) You have unhealed emotional wounds

The first spiritual meaning of vivid dreams is that you might be reliving an old trauma in your dreams.

Emotional wounds are leftover fragments of experiences that were very real to us during our lives. In order for us to survive in the world, we must overcome these old wounds and move on with our lives.

But sometimes, we cannot move on from an experience immediately after the fact. Some of our experiences are so traumatic that they remain buried deep within the dark recess of our subconscious minds.

They hide within the shadows of our souls, waiting patiently to be uncovered and treated by us personally to heal them inside and out.

So feel free to explore your dreams for such experiences as you remember them!

Read over any details that come back to you when you wake up–especially if they feel very familiar but not fully understood…

2) You are feeling intellectually stifled

According to the dictionary, a vivid dream is one that is a “realistic image in the mind.” What makes a dream “vivid” is the fact that it seems more real than reality.

To put it in a different way, it means that you are dreaming and experiencing an event that seems very real.

Vivid dreams often seem to follow us around everywhere we go. We may even feel like our imaginations have become too strong for us and we can no longer control them!

Also known as “constant waking imagination”, this can cause us intense worry about what our vivid dreams mean.

And since most of them feature some sort of intellectual stimulation, our minds begin to rebel against the fact that there really isn’t anything out of the ordinary going on around us at all!

So when it comes to the spiritual meanings of vivid dreams, it is often because you are trying to understand something intellectually that leaves you feeling suffocated and stifled.

You may also notice that this feeling disappears when you begin to dream more regularly. It may be due to the fact that your mind needs some time out of the real-life drama and you need to go back into your world of imagination.

But here is the good news:

You can seek the answer through your dream world, you can come as hints in your dream world to your personal questions, and you can even look forward to your dream world as a possible means of healing yourself through spiritual release and soul expansion if you are willing to explore these vivid dreams more fully.

3) You feel unaccepted or unwelcome in your life situation

Have you ever arrived at a new place to live, or to a job, only to realize that you no longer feel welcome there?

A vivid dream may be described as a dream that totally consumes you, and makes you feel like you are really there.

This may seem like an extremely minor detail, but it usually has a powerful impact on the way we feel about ourselves in the future.

Not only do we sometimes feel like we are not truly appreciated by our family and friends, but it can also have a huge impact on our belief system as well. Our alienation from the world may leave us feeling very lonely and wanting love in our life.

So when you have vivid dreams about people in your life that you no longer recognize, it may mean that you are remembering past relationships through a new and more colorful lens, or it could be that you are trying to find yourself by embracing the new person in your life at the present time.

In other words:

Things are not always as they seem, so it is important to be open-minded about our relationships with people and with places, even if we literally feel alienated from them.

4) You need creative inspiration

OK, I know what you’re thinking:

“This thing is not relevant to the meaning of having a vivid dream, surely?”

And you are definitely right about that!

Vivid dreams do not necessarily always mean you are inspired to be creative, but it does sometimes play a major part in the way creativity manifests itself in our lives.

On the other hand, there are also very many people out there who have no need for any artistic inspiration.

They say they dreamt of a plain white room and then go on to create their own vision of their favorite place in the world, or they dream of something completely different, yet it still inspires them to create something wonderful! So one thing is definitely true:

In our lives, we all have both creative and non-creative ways of expressing ourselves. But what is important is not whether or not we’re inspired by a dream, but whether or not we choose to work with whatever inspiration we might receive from it.

5) You are aware of past lives in your dreams

As I’ve mentioned above, it can sometimes be difficult to distinguish whether a dream you have is real or not, but if you feel like you are remembering past lives through your dreams, there is a good chance that they are real.

As it turns out, there are lots of ways in which our conscious and/or subconscious minds can be triggered to produce vivid visions from our past.

Sometimes we even see ourselves as we were some years ago, or we are given a glimpse into the life we had lived in our past lives, I mean the one we were just born into.

But wait, there’s more!

Maybe you have an urge to find out more about your past lives, and that is actually a good sign.

The urge to do so means you are very eager to learn more about yourself and this is in line with the fact that a vivid dream can be a kind of gateway to learning about your own past lives.

For example, if you have the urge to know more about your childhood parents, it could be helpful for you to look into the possibility that they might have been someone else in a previous life.

6) Meeting your spirit guide or guardian angel

Another spiritual meaning of vivid dreams is that you might be meeting your guardian angel or spirit guide.

For example, you might have the vision of someone you’ve never met in your life before, and then an eagerness to meet them strikes you when suddenly that person appears beside you!

This might also be the case if someone who is very important to you appears in a dream and will only be seen by those who are lucky enough to see that person again after waking up.

In this sense, it does not necessarily mean that there was any importance attached to their appearance, but rather that they appeared because of a destiny they had been born into and wanted to convey some important message.

I’ve been there:

I’ve asked myself the same question regarding my own guardian angel. I have often asked myself if I have ever been guided by him before, and eventually, it became so obvious to me that something was up, that I was certain he always was there by my side.

Then I try to figure out the meaning of it all and to be honest, I don’t have any real idea on how to answer this.

Fortunately, after speaking with the gifted advisor from Psychic Source, I now see that my guardian angel is really a manifestation of my own energy, a part of me, that I can use to help myself or others whenever it is needed.

They also told me that having a guardian angel is more of a way to have someone else in the world helping you, rather than it being the other way around.

I have to agree with them. If I am truly lucky enough to be blessed with having a guardian angel by my side, it must be because I am really lucky and deserve it: no one is really capable of contacting their own guardian angel unless they are very deserving in their lives.

If this is the case for you, then speaking with them can truly help you to grow and to be who you were destined to be.

7) Discovering your mission in life

You might find your own mission in life when you have a vivid dream.

This, in itself, can be a way of helping you to see what you were destined to do in life.

These visions that come from the depths of your subconsciousness may occur after you’ve experienced or felt something specific or have been thinking about certain subjects for some time.

These things might include anything that relates to your physical appearance, the future of a particular subject, the long-term plans of someone else around you, etc.

Try to spot any of these things in the images that pass before your eyes, and see if it makes sense to you. It might help you to make a clearer vision of your mission in life, and it may also help you to understand why certain situations are happening to you at this moment.

If it does, then that’s great!

But if it doesn’t, then we will talk about how to make it happen in the next article.

Being conscious about your purpose in life can help you to make sense of everything you are experiencing now and what is going on around you. This is something that I myself have found by my own experience but discussed more here.

8) Your self-worth is too low

One of the meanings of vivid dreams is a way for your energy to seek a higher level of self-worth.

When you are not sure about who you are and what kind of person you want to be, your energy will go into the subconscious and ask for answers. This can sometimes bring up answers that will not make you feel satisfied, therefore leaving you feeling low in yourself and even depressed at times.

This is sometimes caused by the lack of information that is given to us when we are young: we don’t know where our purpose in life is, why we have been chosen by the universe and others, or why we have been having these dreams lately.

We just wish to know why this or that happened to us – but there’s nothing wrong with asking! Maybe it will help you find out if there’s something else waiting for you outside this world or somewhere else in this world.

In your vivid dreams, you may come across the answers to these questions, or you may find that you can fill your inner desire with the things that seem to relate to you. It will be important to be aware of your reason for having a vivid dream in this situation though.

For example, your dream may include people who you think are friends but who actually aren’t, maybe you might be on a date with someone that you don’t like, or perhaps your dream might include some kind of tragedy.

This can happen because, in your unconsciousness, there are other things happening regarding the topic of your vivid dream.

In this case, it is important to ask yourself why have you been having these dreams. What is the meaning behind them?

9) Something is about to change in your life

The truth is:

No matter how much you think that you are in control of your life, there are just some things that cannot be changed.

What is about to change for example? Why is this happening?

Once again: because the unconsciousness may be asking these questions, and we should not take any sudden change in our lives in a negative way.

If something has been bothering you for a while, perhaps this will help you find the answer to one more question that has been bothering you.

And by having vivid dreams, you will be able to give your conscious mind the desire to make the changes necessary.

But don’t try to change everything too quickly, or you might set yourself up for failure in the future.

Here are some tips to help you:

  • Think about the changes that you want to make. If you are worried that special and unusual things will happen, think of a non-threatening example: maybe your partner might buy a new car, or he/she might start a new job.
  • Have faith in your dreams: they are there to help you find answers to questions that might be bothering you. Instead of asking why you had this or that dream, ask whether it could have been more helpful if it had been something else.
  • Be certain that any change is completely necessary and good for both yourself and the people around you: remember: everyone will not agree with it!

10) You are currently going through a growth spurt in your life

Vivid dreams help us to gain certain experiences that we need in order to grow.

The main experience that you will get from a growth spurt is new information and self-knowledge.

For example, if you are an adolescent, dreaming may include meeting people you have never met before, pretending to live in different cities or countries, etc.

Other aspects of your growth might be more introspective: having a dream about your innermost desires; having a dream that describes how others see you or the way that you feel about yourself; etc.

Want to know the best part?

These dreams can help you gain information about yourself, which will help you to understand yourself a lot better.

There are two ways of doing it:

  1. You must want to understand your own feelings, attitudes, and emotions a lot better. If you don’t understand them yourself, then how can you expect another person to understand them?
  2. Another way is to write down all the things that you want to know about your innermost self before starting the dream-writing session with lucid dreaming techniques.

If possible, base the explanation on reality: perhaps ask your best friend or your family member who has already learned these things that have helped you in the past.

The more you know about the dream, the more interesting and exciting it will be.

11) You’re trying to understand something about yourself

If you’re not sure of some aspect of yourself, vivid dreams will definitely help you.

Let me explain:

Your dream may be a metaphor for something you are trying to understand.

For example, if you’d like to understand the meaning of life, perhaps your dreams could repeat the same sequence of events over and over again.

If you’re trying to understand what “love” is then dream about someone who loves you or is close to love.

If you’ve been arguing with someone an hour ago, but don’t know what the reason was, then have a dream that reveals it.

As I’ve said before:

Your mind will send messages in such a way that they can make sense only when they are given meaning by some symbols in them. You need symbols to make sense of reality; hence vivid dreaming can help us with this purpose too!

So, here’s the deal:

We tend to get stuck in a rut, with the same patterns and habits that we repeat over and over. It’s hard to free your mind from these habits and patterns. This is why we must find a way to be inebriated by fiction to break out of the rut.

Along with some exercises like meditation and yoga, breathwork can definitely help.

Why?

It’s not only an easy technique, but it does wonders for your mind.

Instead of thinking about the same thing over and over again, you’ll be able to be more flexible and creative by using this technique.

I have tried this wonderful technique by the shaman, Rudá Iandê. He is a very wise man and I believe that if he can do it, so could I.

With this technique, you’ll be able to connect with the world of reality as well as the world of imagination in a new way. You’ll be able to remember even the most abstract ideas and images.

I have tried it as a beginner, but I can confirm that it really works. If you can spend some time on an exercise, you may find that it will be very beneficial.

12) You’re in tune with your spirit guides

Many of us have a tendency to ignore the fact that we have spirit guides.

In some situations, this may be helpful:

When you are in a state of a vivid dream, you’ll be able to talk with them, ask them questions, and compare the answers.

Seeing the answer in a dream can be very helpful in understanding it better.

After all, how can we understand what a spirit guide is if we don’t interact with him/her?

A spirit guide is someone who has learned everything there is to learn in life and wants to help those who are stuck by giving them useful information through thoughts, voices, images, and sometimes even visions.

If you have a spirit guide, he/she will definitely appear in your dreams.

Just remember to keep an open mind while you’re having a dream: your spirit guide is here to help you, not harm you.

You may be wondering whether a spirit guide will ever appear. The answer is: Yes. Even those that are already dead can still appear to give valuable information. And there are times when they can even show their presence in the form of symbols that represent the best!

13) You have questions about the future of your career or relationships

In vivid dreams, you often feel like you really can interact with other characters or express yourself in a way that is not feasible in reality. You may also have some conscious control over your body and what it feels like.

This is a common experience among many people.

It can be helpful, especially if it’s about the future of your relationship or career and the person you’re with. For example:

  • You may have dreams about meeting someone and talking about your plans for the future. After such a dream, this person might say something that makes you feel uncertain about your future plans.
  • After such a dream, someone may ask you about your plans for the future and you might disagree with him/her.
  • You may have dreams about being in a relationship that might turn out to be very important for your future.

All of these situations can help us understand something better about our relationships or careers. It can help us figure out what we’d like to do in the future, without getting us too bogged down.

14) You’re trying to understand yourself better

The final spiritual meaning of having vivid dreams is that they help us learn more about ourselves.

After all, dreams are our connection to the world of imagination and the unseen. That’s why it is so important for us to understand how we can use them to connect with other people, animals, and even spirits.

As I’ve said before:

When you have vivid dreams, you can make sense of some things that otherwise you would never have considered possible. The dream is so real that you feel that you’ve already experienced the events in it.

The more we understand ourselves and the world, the better we can lead our lives.

You could try to go through some of the exercises I mentioned earlier. This can help you understand more about yourself, which will help you learn how to make your life a better place.

Final thoughts

Having vivid dreams can have a lot of spiritual meanings to you.

It may contain the meaning of life, the meaning of love, or the meaning of death.

It may even contain specific details about people who are very important in your life (even if you don’t know them!).

So always remember: what you have in your dreams is never a coincidence!

If you’re still struggling with finding the real meaning of dreams and how to understand them, you may try speaking with a gifted advisor.

As I’ve mentioned above, they have helped me find the answer to many questions that I’ve been having my whole life. I have to say they’re pretty critical about understanding dreams. If you think you’re ready for it, then why not go to a gifted advisor?

You can find them by clicking here.
