Most people experience times of spiritual exhaustion at some point. It’s a normal part of our spiritual journey.
However, if you’re suffering from it on a regular basis, it may be time to make some changes.
Keep reading! Here are 10 signs you’re suffering from spiritual exhaustion and how to deal with it.
1) Your relationships suffer
One of the signs of a weakened commitment to your faith is often poor relationships.
It’s not uncommon for you to find that you struggle to be as present for people as you were previously.
For example, you may feel that you don’t have the same energy to spend with friends as in previous times. You may even find yourself feeling irritable or impatient with those around you.
Gradually, it becomes more and more of a struggle to be close to people, making it harder for you to maintain relationships rooted in love.
As a result of this, you may feel that your relationships suffer. You may find yourself having less meaningful conversations with those around you.
You might also find that many friendships end because you simply don’t have the energy to sustain them in your current state.
2) You have constant feelings of guilt and shame
Have you ever felt guilty or ashamed of your actions? Of course, you have.
You’re not alone!
However, do you find that these feelings become so intense and pervasive that it’s more difficult to function as you would in a normal state?
Do you spend time thinking about your flaws? (And how you can try to fix them). Or are these feelings overwhelming and overwhelming?
That is the sign of someone who is exhausted by the spiritual.
Let me explain:
Spiritual exhaustion is the state in which a person has been unable to make progress in spiritual matters.
It is often preceded by other spiritual challenges – but once it occurs, the exhausted person often gives up on spiritual matters altogether and becomes caught in the cycle of self-loathing, feeling guilty and ashamed for their past mistakes (caused by lack of proper training or guidance) and not being able to move forward with their spirituality.
3) You’re constantly criticizing yourself
As I’ve mentioned above, people who are spiritually exhausted can be quite critical of themselves. You may find that you’re actually more harsh on yourself because you’ve lost faith in yourself.
Instead of being kind to yourself, you often criticize and belittle your very soul and inner being. You feel like a worthless human being.
It’s not unusual for staying spiritually exhausted to lead to feelings of depression and worthlessness, which make it harder to maintain any kind of balance in your life.
When this happens, it’s likely that you’ll spend more time criticizing yourself than actually praising yourself (because there’s no self-love!).
This is the sign of a person who has been struggling with their faith for a long time – so it will take time for them to truly emerge from those spiritual “depths.”
4) A real psychic confirms
The signs above and below will give you a good idea about spiritual exhaustion.
But a surefire way to know for sure is to speak with a gifted advisor.
They can answer questions like, “How long have I been spiritually exhausted?” and “What are the warning signs of spiritual exhaustion?” through a reading.
The problem is finding someone you can trust.
That’s why I recommend Psychic Source. When I signed up for a reading, they provided me with a unique insight into where my life was going, including who I am meant to be with.
Having tried several online advisors, I think they’re the most caring, compassionate, and helpful network of gifted advisors out there.

5) You no longer have a desire to pray or read the Bible
In today’s world, there are so many distractions that prevent you from finding God. But when you are spiritually exhausted, it’s likely that you will no longer be interested in going to church or reading the Bible.
You may even become further away from your faith and spirituality altogether! This means that your spiritual exhaustion is not only real but rather dangerous – because of the potential for personal growth!
I know the feeling of being so spiritually exhausted that you no longer want to pray or read the Bible.
But I want to encourage you. I know that feeling of deep despair and hopelessness. And what I’d like to say is just the opposite:
“Push through the darkness!”
It’s very likely that your will and determination to find your core spiritual being will manifest themselves even in the darkest part of your life.
Yes, sometimes you’ll feel like you can’t see a way through. But you’re not alone.
I know that feeling too… but something good has come out of it for me. And I believe it will for you as well.
The most important thing about spiritual exhaustion is that no matter how hopeless things may seem, you are never alone.
6) You have little to no motivation
According to the American Psychological Association, there is a “common phenomenon called spiritual exhaustion, which is characterized by a sense of physical and psychological exhaustion related to the maintenance of one’s beliefs.”
When you are spiritually exhausted, you may have little to no motivation to pray or do anything else religious.
The dullness and apathy that comes with this state of spiritual exhaustion can only lead to depression and a lack of purpose in life.
You may even end up feeling like nothing you’ve done has actually mattered.
This is obviously very dangerous – because it can lead to an overall burnout in your life!
This can put you at risk for a dangerous state of hopelessness in your life. When this happens, it’s likely that you’ll even lose interest in your spiritual purpose altogether.
7) You feel lonely and disconnected from others
Another unfortunate symptom of spiritual exhaustion is the feeling of isolation and alienation from others.
This may be because you’ve become so hardened by the struggles you’ve faced in life.
However, when you’re spiritually exhausted, it’s likely that you’re actually quite closed off to others. This can lead to a sense of loneliness and helplessness.
Busyness, politics, and the everyday noise of the world may have distracted you from experiencing your purpose and callings. Or maybe you have somehow lost connection with others. Either way, these are all signs that you’re in a state of spiritual exhaustion.
It’s important to remember that when you feel lonely or disconnected from others, it’s completely natural and healthy to reach out and make that connection with others. You should not become so closed off or hardened to the world that you feel alienated by it.
8) You experience chronic fatigue and a lack of energy
Not only mental and spiritual energy but physical energy too.
It’s likely that your lack of energy will lead to chronic fatigue – and ironically, your fatigue will make it harder for you to have a sense of purpose in life.
You may feel like you’re always on the go and working hard – but when you are spiritually exhausted, it’s likely that you’ll feel like nothing is actually getting done at all.
So, here’s the deal:
Although I have listed the outward signs of spiritual exhaustion, it’s also important to remember that your soul needs rest.
You can’t go out every night and stay up all night partying and then expect to wake up feeling full of energy the next day. And it’s quite possible that you’ve never even given yourself a chance to truly rest in peace.
That is why it’s absolutely important for you to create a routine of rest (otherwise known as prayer) in your life.
9) Religious practices, prayer, meditation, etc., no longer bring you joy and comfort
Think back to the days when you were younger. I know how you felt then…
You had so much energy! You were so happy! You felt a purpose in life. And you knew that the universe was working in your favor.
You were so eager and excited to get up every morning and start your day with a prayer. You felt like you could conquer anything that came your way.
But then, as you got older, things changed.
Everything seemed to fall apart…
You’re now experiencing spiritual exhaustion. Don’t blame yourself for what happened.
If you have experienced spiritual exhaustion, it’s because you’ve chosen this path. It’s because you have allowed the world and worldly successes to consume you.
It’s because your heart has become so hardened that you’ve lost sight of your purpose.
Most people want inner peace, and you’re no exception. If spiritual exhaustion has taken over your life, it’s likely that you will do almost anything to get rid of it.
It’s time for a change in your life.
10) You have a hard time finding meaning or purpose in life
The last sign that you’re in a state of spiritual exhaustion is that you have a hard time finding meaning or purpose in life.
This is because when you are spiritually exhausted, it’s likely that you’ve lost the ability to seek out your purpose.
Even worse, if you do try to find meaning in your life, it’s likely that nothing will work for you – because everything feels meaningless and useless!
The truth is, that we need meaning and purpose in our lives. Otherwise, we are simply wasting away in a state of spiritual exhaustion.
Don’t be afraid to admit that you are spiritually exhausted. And don’t be afraid to admit that you need help and guidance from someone who has been there before.
If you feel you are in this state of spiritual exhaustion, please . . . be honest with yourself.
And take action immediately – because if you don’t, it might be too late for you to get out of the rut that you’ve dug for yourself.
How to beat spiritual exhaustion
If you’re reading this article, then it’s quite likely that you’ve experienced spiritual exhaustion.
Luckily, there is good news:
There are strategies and techniques you can use to heal your soul and find inner peace – without having to spend years traveling the world or meditating in caves!
Truth be told, it’s not easy… But it’s completely possible.
I know this as I’ve been there myself.
I’ve always had a hard time finding peace and purpose in my life. Yet, I don’t want you to have to go through what I went through. Here are 5 simple steps that will help you find spiritual purpose and peace…
1) Get help from a real psychic
Faith and belief is the number one thing that will help you get out of the rut that you are in.
Eventually, your doubt will lead to despair. And then, it’ll be much harder for you to get back on track.
Get some spiritual advice from a real psychic (or guide) and they will give you some clear direction in life. They may tell you that you need to face a challenge head-on – or maybe find a way to let go of something that has been troubling you for a while.
I’d suggest speaking to a gifted advisor at Psychic Source.
I mentioned them earlier. They have helped me out in the past and I’ve always found them honest and compassionate in their readings.
So instead of trying to solve all your love problems on your own, speak to an advisor who’ll give you the answers you’re looking for.

2) Be open to change
The very worst thing you can do when you feel spiritually exhausted is to close yourself off from the rest of the world.
You need to be open to change – because it’s only through open-mindedness that you will find what it is that will help you get out of your rut.
Read spiritual material that inspires and uplifts you. Don’t read the depressing stuff that makes you feel even more dejected than before.
Here are some self-help books that can help you to get out of your rut and find inner peace.
– Awaken the Giant Within by Tony Robbins
– The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
– A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle
3) Go on a spiritual retreat (or something similar)
A spiritual retreat might be just what you need to clear your head and help you to see things from a completely new standpoint.
You might find that while on your spiritual retreat, you encounter something that will help inspire you again.
For those who don’t know, a real spiritual retreat is an experience that is supposed to help you to get in touch with your higher self.
By going on a retreat, you allow yourself the opportunity to step outside of your normal routine and relax completely.
You can learn some very valuable lessons by going on a spiritual retreat, but it’s important that you find the right place for you.
4) Keep a hope journal
When you feel like there is no hope left for you, it’s easy to succumb to a state of spiritual exhaustion.
But if you keep a hope journal, you’ll be able to record the things that have inspired and uplifted you in the past. You’ll also be able to find the parts of your life that still make you smile — even during times that seem unbearable!
Use your hope journal as a reminder of what it is that makes your soul happy.
Try to journal a few times a week, just to keep things in perspective.
You might also want to consider going on an inspirational retreat – or something similar.
5) Dream big!
The biggest obstacle that you will face in your life is yourself. You try so hard to make sense of everything, but the truth is that there isn’t always a logical reason behind everything that happens.
That’s why you need to dream big!
Give yourself permission to imagine that you can live your life however you want – and do whatever it is that makes you happy. There aren’t any limits on how high you can soar! And if you decide to be a billionaire, who’s going to stop you?
Dreaming big will motivate you and give your soul the wings it needs to get out of its rut.
Final thoughts
Although I don’t know exactly how you feel – I do know that if you are in a state of spiritual exhaustion, then there is hope for you.
Just because you don’t understand everything that is happening in your life right now, doesn’t mean you have to continue suffering.
You can be free of all the pain and suffering you’ve been feeling.
Hopefully, the steps above will shed some light on spiritual exhaustion.
But if there’s a part of you that still wants to know more, I recommend speaking to a genuine advisor.
And there’s one company that I always end up recommending, Psychic Source. Not only did they blow me away with their accurate reading, but they were also kind and understanding of my situation.
So if you’re tired of wondering about spiritual exhaustion, get in touch with a gifted advisor and take your future into your own hands. I did, and I’ve never looked back since.
