Breaking out in hives or other similar skin problems can really be confusing, especially when you aren’t sure what might have triggered them.
Did you know that sometimes, these outbreaks can actually have spiritual significance?
Yes, the hives on your skin might actually be telling you an important message, and I’m here to tell you what that is!
There are various spiritual meanings of hives, so take a look if any of the following resonate with you:
1) You have too much stress in your life
The first spiritual meaning of hives is that you simply have too much stress in your life.
It’s very easy to let stress get the better of you and cause you to feel like you’re drowning in it, especially when you have a lot of responsibilities and expectations that aren’t your own.
However, if you feel like there’s too much stress in your life, then it might be time to take a step back from everything and find ways to relieve the pressure.
Meditation is a great way to do this, as is doing things that make you happy (like spending time with loved ones or just doing something creative).
Now: I get it, sometimes we feel like we literally just don’t have the time to take a break and take care of ourselves because we’re so busy taking care of everyone else.
If this is the case, then I highly recommend you make time to take care of yourself and take a break from everything.
You can do this by booking a spa day or just spending time with loved ones.
The thing you need to remember is, you can’t help anyone if you get burned out!
It’s more productive to take some time to fill your own cup than to keep pushing until you’re empty and exhausted.
Your skin could be a reminder that you need a break.
That leads me to my next point:
2) You are overwhelmed
Hives can also be a sign that you are overwhelmed. Now: overwhelm is a bit different than stress.
With stress, you usually have a ton of stuff to do and just aren’t sure how to get it all done.
With overwhelm, all that stress could just be coming from emotions.
You see, you can be overwhelmed by something that happened in the past or something that is happening in the present.
For example, you could have been bullied as a child and now whenever you’re in a social situation, it brings up feelings of inadequacy or discomfort.
This would be considered an emotional trigger.
Or maybe you’re going through a breakup right now and are having a hard time dealing with the emotions of it all.
This kind of overwhelm can be really detrimental to your health in the long run, so your hives might be a spiritual sign that you need to cut yourself some slack.
Emotional overwhelm is just as valid as having a ton of tasks to do, so even if you don’t feel super productive or burned out, you might need a break.
The first step is to identify what’s causing your overwhelm.
Once you do that, it will be easier to find a way to take care of yourself and maybe even talk to someone about your feelings.
3) You are bottling up a lot of anger
Speaking of feelings, there is another emotion that might be the culprit of your recent outbreak.
You see, anger is a very powerful emotion, and sometimes it’s hard for us to deal with.
I mean, if you’re angry at someone or something, it can be difficult to talk about that feeling.
I speak from experience when I say that growing up, I never felt safe expressing my anger. So instead of dealing with it, I bottled it up.
Well, guess what? That’s not the most healthy way to deal with anger.
In fact, it can cause a lot of damage to your body and your mind.
Bottling up anger is like an old time bomb waiting to go off. It’s just a matter of time before the pressure builds up and the hives appear.
So when you have hives, it might be a sign that you need to get some things off your chest.
The thing is, anger is a very taboo topic in our society and not a lot of people like to show it.
For good reason, we see examples of toxic anger issues all around, and nobody wants to be associated with that, right?
However, there are very healthy ways of dealing with anger that doesn’t hurt anyone else.
You could try scream therapy, martial arts, exercise in general, writing an angry letter,…
These can help you let go of whatever you are holding onto within.
4) You have experienced a traumatic event
When I found out about this next point, I was surprised.
Hives can actually be caused by a traumatic event that happened to you. Now, I realized that if something traumatic happened in the moment, then, of course, the stress could cause something like hives.
But what I didn’t know was that sometimes, traumatic events from the past, even dating all the way back to childhood, can come back up in the form of skin problems!
This is a tricky issue to deal with, given that trauma is often repressed and you might not even remember a lot of it, let alone think of it as the culprit for your hives.
If you suspect that there could be something in your past affecting your life still, I really recommend talking to someone about it, like a psychic.
I went to Psychic Source, and to be honest, it felt as if the gifted advisor I talked to could look right into me.
We discussed things that happened in the past and how certain triggers could bring about skin problems.
Awareness is the first step to getting better, so if you are still looking for the answer to your skin problems, a psychic might be able to help you out.

5) It’s a warning from the spirit world
Alright, this might sound a bit ominous, but it’s not as bad as you think, I promise!
Skin problems such as hives could be a warning from the spirit world that there is a lot of negativity around you.
This could be from a situation you’re in, from friends you hang out with, or even from your job.
Either way, if you feel like your life is not as it should be, then you should listen to that feeling and pay attention to what’s going on around you.
Ask yourself: Are there people in my life who make me feel bad? Do I feel bad in a certain environment? What is it that makes me feel this way?
You might actually be able to pinpoint the exact source of your negativity.
If you see a pattern in people or places that cause these feelings, then you need to change something about it, because this could very well be a warning from the spirit world that this negativity is affecting you.
6) You lack self-control
Now, this next point actually relates to what we just talked about in some way.
You see, I’m not talking about the classic self-control of “I won’t eat that third piece of cake”, I’m talking about the kind of self-control that allows you not to be manipulated by other people.
Your hives could be a sign that as of right now, you have trouble with self-assertion.
This means that you give in to the wishes of others too easily.
If you’re always giving in to your friend who wants to go out for a drink instead of doing your homework, or if you never say no when your boss asks you to stay late at work, then you’re lacking self-control.
Don’t worry, this is fixable!
Simply work on being more assertive by taking little steps, exploring your boundaries, and saying “no” more often!
7) Your need to take better care of yourself
Another spiritual meaning behind your hives could be that you have been neglecting yourself lately.
This could be due to a lot of different reasons, but the most common ones are: You’re stressed out, you don’t sleep enough, or you’re eating too much unhealthy food.
If any of these apply to you, then you should try and change that.
For starters, make sure that you get at least eight hours of sleep every night – this is essential if you want to stay healthy!
Also, try and eat a healthy diet as much as possible, and don’t forget to exercise at least once a week!
I know it’s not exactly easy when your life is really busy, but try and make time for yourself – it’s important!
The thing is, nothing is more important than your health. We never understand that until we actually get sick, and then it’s usually too late.
So don’t wait until you get sick to take care of yourself – do it now, while you still have the chance!
Your hives might be a reminder of what it’s like to not be your physical best, so try to take better care of yourself.
You only get one body in this lifetime, so you need to protect it at all costs!
8) You lack confidence
You might be wondering “If I lack confidence, why would I get hives, something that makes me even more self-conscious?”
Well, the universe likes to really challenge us sometimes.
If you lack confidence, then your hives might be a sign that you need to start boosting your self-esteem.
You see, you might not have noticed how bad your self-esteem had gotten until you finally got to a point where you HAD to do something.
The good news?
This is the universe’s way of teaching you that confidence has nothing to do with your appearance.
You see, when you get hives and learn to be confident regardless, you realize that your appearance never really mattered all that much.
What truly matters is how you see yourself, and if you’re confident in yourself, then what does it matter what other people think?
You’ll be able to live a much happier life if you learn to be confident in yourself.
One exercise that always helps me with that is to watch how I carry myself.
What energy do I want to put out?
9) You need to learn patience
Skin problems often have one thing in common: you need to be patient and wait for them to subside.
Now, it’s difficult to be patient sometimes, especially when life wires us to have an incredibly short attention span.
However, this is something that we can work on.
If you’re getting hives, then you’re probably not very patient, and that’s okay.
You see, I used to think that patience was about waiting for the right things in life to happen – but the truth is, it’s more about how we handle things when they don’t happen in our favor.
So if you’re getting hives and need to learn patience, just know that this is teaching you an important lesson that will be very useful moving forward!
10) It’s an invitation to stay positive
Last but not least, hives can be a spiritual invitation to stay positive.
It’s so easy to slip into negative thoughts when you are experiencing skin problems, and that can feel really bad.
However, it’s important to remember that your thoughts are always creating something in the universe.
So if you’re getting hives, think about how you can shift your perspective on them.
While skin problems can be frustrating and uncomfortable, they can also be a great reminder of what’s truly important in life.
So don’t let these little bumps get you down – instead, use them as an opportunity to learn something.
Maybe you can be grateful for the reminder of how fleeting everything is. Or potentially they show you a valuable lesson in how to take better care of yourself.
Frankly, there is some silver lining to every situation, and your hives might be trying to teach you that.
Final thoughts – don’t let those hives bring you down
I know how uncomfortable skin problems can be – you feel self-conscious, and you can’t help but feel like you’re the only one with such a problem.
It’s hard to explain them to people, and it’s even more difficult when they don’t understand.
But remember that everyone has their own challenges in life, and while yours may be hives, someone else might be struggling with something completely different.
Most importantly, your skin says nothing about your beauty, your worth, or how amazing you are as a person.
They are simply that, a temporary skin issue!
