Being in a twin flame relationship is one of the most rewarding journeys there can be. Speaking from experience, however, it can also be rife with difficulty, challenges, and growth.
Really, it’s the nature of a twin flame relationship to have difficulties. But, the difficulties lead to growth.
In this article, I’ll run through 10 common twin flame relationship problems, and give you tips on how to solve them.
10 big twin flame problems
A quick thing to note: twin flame relationships are extraordinarily unique. My twin flame relationship, for instance, is different from any other.
It’s important to remember that these tips and pointers aren’t a “one size fits all,” type of solution.
Alright, without further ado.
1) The runner chaser dynamic
We’ll start things off with one of the most recognizable traits of a twin flame relationship, and one of the most problematic.
The runner chaser dynamic happens when one of the twin flames will try to avoid the reality of the relationship by running away. Naturally, the other twin flame will follow and become the chaser.
So why does the runner run? Often it has to do with denial and avoidance. Twin flame relationships are designed to unearth old wounds, deep-set problems, and entrenched habits. A twin flame relationship is a catalyst for growth.
However, the way that looks and plays out can be complicated, tricky, and often lengthy. Usually, someone runs because they’re not ready to face themselves and aren’t ready to grow.
How to solve it:
Something important to remember during this phase, and in fact for each of these “problems” is that they are more than just an inconvenience, they usually happen for good reason. There’s a lesson to be learned by one or both people, and there’s growth that needs to happen.
In either case, the less time you both spend in this stage, the better.
With that in mind, then, here are a couple of things you can do, whether you’re the runner or the chaser.
If you’re the runner, try to understand why you’re afraid, what has caused you soul shock, and how you can start to heal and grow. If something made you scared, pinpoint it and address it.
If you’re the chaser, remember to trust the journey. Have patience, allow you and your twin to go through the process. You’ll reunite again. It’s important to also remember that your twin may have started running because they thought you might need to learn something, too. Use this time to do some introspection.
Here’s a look at 10 things you can do if your twin flame doesn’t want you.
No two twin flame journeys are alike, however, most all of them share this common characteristic: the relationship shared is a long-term one. Many feel that they’ve been in a relationship with their twin flame for multiple lifetimes.

This can be both good news and also frustrating news. We want to be with our twin, we want to share time and happiness with them, as much as we can.
But the whole journey isn’t only about that, it’s about achieving true spiritual growth, synergy, and ascension.
It’s only normal to feel impatient, especially when things aren’t ideal.
How to solve it:
It’s important to try to learn patience. Trust the journey, and stop trying so hard.
Your union is inevitable, fateful, and cosmic. So learn to surrender. Give in to the push and pull. No one said a twin flame relationship would be easy.
However, that’s okay because the reward is well worth it. The ability to know that you’ve found your cosmic twin will allow you to go with the flow. Even when you feel further from them than you ever thought possible.
No matter how difficult each stage may be, you’ll soon be with them and joined together in the way you truly desire.
If you’re feeling impatient, use your energy for self-development and personal growth. This will accelerate your journey.
Often, we can’t get our twin flame out of our minds, no matter what we do. Here are some interesting indicators as to what it might indicate when you can’t get that someone out of your mind.
3) Complicated circumstances
One of the things that make twin flame relationships so special is the peculiar lack of doubt. When you meet this person, there’s just a resonance, an unspoken understanding that you and this person share.
This is often highlighted more by complicated circumstances. Unusually difficult family situations, cultural barriers, differences in sexual orientation, and so on. It may not make any logical sense, but instead of diminishing the intensity, it magnifies it.
How to solve it:
As beautiful as it is to recognize this, it can lead to many problems and issues. These circumstances can often be huge roadblocks, and it can at times lead to doubt.
And while the signs I mention below will give you a good idea of your twin flame relationship problems, an even better way is to speak to a real psychic.
The key is to find a psychic you trust.
I recently tried Psychic Source after going through a bad break up. They provided me with a unique insight into where my life was going, including who I was meant to be with.
I was actually blown away by how caring, compassionate and knowledgeable they were.

4) Energy imbalance
So much about a twin flame relationship is a unification of energy: growing more and more in tune with those energies.
Therefore, at different stages of the twin flame relationship, there will be imbalances. Especially at the beginning. Old energy, negative energy — these will need to be cleared out and purged.
Often the awakened twin will be the catalyst, and the processing of fears and traumas can lead to an awakening in the other twin.
In other words, these kinds of energy imbalances are often a big problem in twin flame relationships.
How to solve it:
Honing in on and identifying the energy you’re feeling can really help. Being aware of why you’re feeling a certain way, and being able to pinpoint the issues is a huge helping tool.
It’s also important, especially if you’re the awakened twin, to realize that your process of purging old energy will directly affect your twin.
Make sure to be patient and kind with them as they process their traumas, and continue to grow on the journey, just as you are.
If you’re struggling a lot with these energy imbalances, consider doing energy work, recruiting help, using crystals, and other useful tools to help you tune in and cleanse yourself.
5) Brutal truths
One of the biggest facets of a twin flame relationship is that there’s absolutely no hiding. Your twin flame, and the relationship you have with them, are going to force you to grow.
There’s no getting away from the fact that you’ll have to face your traumas, your fears, and your weaknesses.
It’s why so many twin flame relationships are rife with problems and difficulties. It’s also why the relationship is so positive, beneficial, and inspiring.
However, at certain times, having these brutal truths revealed can lead to big problems.
How to solve it:
In these instances, brutal truths can lead you or your twin flame to run away, and start a separation phase. These phases are difficult for both people.
However, remember to trust the journey. Allow yourself to surrender, you’ll be able to grow.
It’s really important to face these brutal truths, too. It may be a hard pill to swallow, something you really don’t want to hear, or face just yet.
Here’s the thing: that’s completely valid. Take however long you need. But just remember that to continue your journey with your twin flame, you’ll have to face these brutal truths head-on and accept them. And then grow from them.
The good news? If you’ve separated from your twin flame because of brutal truth, you’ll soon be on your way back to reuniting with them.
Here are some other interesting brutal truths about relationships, and they’ll make you the wiser for it.
6) Distance and age gap
Very similar to our point about complicated circumstances, distance and age gap are very common problems in a twin flame relationship. However, as I’ve mentioned, all twin flame relationships are different, so this characteristic might not be relevant.
Oftentimes, though, twin flames are separated by vast distances. They could have met in unusual circumstances, while traveling, or in an airport, or at a train station (think Before Sunrise, by Richard Linklater), only to be separated by continents and oceans.
It’s also common for there to be a large age gap between twin flames. This kind of relationship is such a deep and cosmic and long-lasting one, what may seem like a long time really isn’t with this perspective in mind.
How to solve it:
With distance, it’s important to remember that the journey has a purpose, and you will be united with your twin flame.
Sometimes it isn’t even in this lifetime, which can be so bittersweet.
On the other hand, it could be that reuniting with your twin happens a few rare, extraordinarily special times spread out across a lifetime. Again, the Before Trilogy by Richard Linklater is a great example of this.
For something like the age gap, it’s important to not let it be a roadblock. You may not usually be into someone older than you, and that makes you feel embarrassed. But with such a deep and long-lasting connection, a few years, a decade, it doesn’t have much relevance.
Don’t let it be a bigger problem than it needs to be. Here are some surprising signs that your twin flame reunion is very near.
The high energy and intensity that comes with a twin flame union also can lead to some pretty explosive fights. Arguing is, in fact, a commonplace feature of twin flame relationships. (And a healthy one in all relationships.)
That’s not to say, of course, that your relationship should be unhealthy, verbally abusive, or destructive in any way.
However, these kinds of arguments can be frustrating and cause serious problems. In the long term, both sides will, eventually, be respected and heard. In the meantime, though, it can cause some big problems.
How to solve it:
Like I’ve mentioned, it’s so important to trust the journey. A fight might lead to more common understanding, awareness, and growth.
On the other hand, a fight might lead to a breakup, or start a long and difficult separation phase. As difficult as this is, it’s important to remember that there’s a lesson to be learned.
There’s growth that needs to happen here. Allow yourself to banish your ego and truly listen to what your twin is saying. They may be wrong, but there may be a lesson to learn, too.
Whatever the result of the arguing, it’s important to allow the journey to teach you everything you need to know.
8) Bad timing
The timing of meeting your twin flame can really be a challenge. It could be that your twin flame is married with children. You could have just suffered a serious loss or a bad breakup, and you’re the furthest thing from ready for a relationship.
Meeting your twin flame at this time can really throw you for a loop. It can leave you unbalanced, confused, and riddled with doubts. It’s honestly a terrible feeling. I’ve been there.
How to solve it:
To solve this problem, it’s important to remember that the timing—no matter how bad it seems, and no matter how many problems it creates — was not “bad.” You met your twin flame at the perfect time. There wasn’t an accident, it wasn’t a mistake.
The bottom line is this: the fact that you did meet means that you were supposed to meet. The timing was actually right.
Even if it means that you’ll be in a separation phase for a while still, just know that you will meet again, and you will unite. Focus on yourself, your personal growth, and they’ll be back in your life soon enough.
In a similar vein to the point about brutal truths, there’s no avoiding the fact that your twin flame is going to trigger you.
They are going to say things or do things that make you upset, make you angry, or trigger you.
Of course, this isn’t going to happen in a spirit of anger or a desire to hurt. You won’t feel unsafe, abused, or undervalued.
But, you will feel challenged. You will feel angry, maybe even in disbelief. That’s because they cut to your core, they expose you and understand all your weaknesses intimately.
It’s uncomfortable, painful, and can be very triggering. It can be extraordinarily hard to manage emotional triggers.
How to solve it:
Try to rework your brain when you feel triggered. You’re confident this person is your twin flame, you feel safe and loved with them (not undervalued, abused, or scared), so think of it as a learning experience.
Think about it like this: It may be a trigger, but it’s a trigger for growth.
Give yourself some space. There’s something that you need to learn, or your twin flame needs to learn. Do a lot of introspection. Listen to what your twin flame says, and what your heart says. You’ll learn a lot about yourself and accelerate your personal growth immensely
10) The separation phase
One of the most keystone signs of a twin flame relationship: the separation phase. It can be one of the most difficult and challenging things you’ll go through in your life.
You’ll feel depressed, hopeless, confused, lost, or stuck in a rut. You’ll never feel further from your twin flame.
It’s a big problem that many people face in a twin flame relationship. So many people want to know how to solve this problem.
How to solve it:
Here’s the thing: It all starts with you. We have this tendency in a twin flame relationship to focus on our twin a lot. We need them, we want them, we crave their presence in every aspect of our lives.
However, that’s not healthy — in any relationship, and not in a twin flame relationship.
There’s no better time than during the separation phase to focus on personal growth. We are on a cosmic journey with our twin flame, however, we’re also on a journey with ourselves.
Many people say that twin flames are two parts of the same soul, separated to learn new lessons and grow.
With that in mind, use the separation phase to meditate, introspect, and better yourself. Learn from your weaknesses and embrace yourself fully.
That way, when the separation phase comes to an end, you’ll be better, stronger, and closer in your bond with your twin flame.
A twin flame relationship is a long journey, a winding road filled with bumps, obstacles, and opportunities to grow stronger. Embrace the problems, learn from them, and grow.
You’ll be able to share this knowledge with your twin flame, and you’ll both be stronger, more vibrant, and even more inseparable with every problem you overcome.
