Superbrain Review 2023: What I Learned From Jim Kwik

Brain hacks and productivity secrets seem to be all the rage the last few years, with countless articles and books published on revealing the ways we can “min-max” our brains, our days, and our overall productivity.

But there’s a lot of fluff out there, or content that is generally useless or meaningless and doesn’t really help you much at all.

Jim Kwik’s Superbrain Quest on Mindvalley is a massive exception to the endless sea of hopeless productivity and brain improvement advice columns.

  • The Superbrain Quest offers a 34-day online course focused on brain training to improve memory, focus, and overall mental performance.
  • The course is built around Kwik’s F.A.S.T. System (Forget, Active, State, Teach) and is designed for individuals seeking to advance their careers and enhance practical learning skills.
  • It includes 8.5 hours of video courses, access to an exclusive community, a workbook, daily assignments, and bonus materials, available as a solo purchase or as part of Mindvalley’s All Access pass.

In this review, I talk all about what you can expect from the renowned celebrity teacher who has influenced the greatest (and most productive) minds of the modern world, and whether you can experience any real growth from taking his 34-day Superbrain online course.

But first, let me start with an overall verdict about the Superbrain Quest, setting the stage for an in-depth exploration of its components and impact:

The Verdict

Jim Kwik’s Superbrain Quest on Mindvalley is a comprehensive, practical, and valuable course that stands out from the plethora of unhelpful brain hacks and productivity advice.

Taught by a renowned celebrity teacher, the course focuses on brain training, memory improvement, and overall cognitive enhancement through Kwik’s F.A.S.T. System.

Ideal for those seeking to advance their careers and enhance learning skills, Superbrain Quest offers video courses, access to an exclusive community, a workbook, daily assignments, and bonus materials.

The course is worth the investment for those who learn through practical implementation and are committed to improving their cognitive abilities.

Now with the verdict unveiled, join me as I reveal the captivating story behind my decision to embark on Jim Kwik’s Superbrain Quest journey:

Why I Decided to Check Out Jim Kwik’s Superbrain Quest

Learning was always a passion for me when I was younger. Straight A student while I was growing up, and I signed up for more classes than I needed throughout university.

But ever since I started “adulting” and running my own business, learning has taken a backseat.

Before I signed up for Superbrain, I was beginning to feel like the same person mentally today that I was a decade ago.

The world doesn’t really force you to change or improve the way you think. You can go through life almost on auto-pilot, doing the bare minimum to get your work done and live your life.

And we very rarely ever stop and assess ourselves — am I mentally growing as a person?

Too often the answer to that question is “No”.

That’s why Jim Kwik’s Superbrain Quest really intrigued me when I first heard about it.

As one of the most popular courses on the Mindvalley learning platform, Superbrain has attracted hundreds of thousands of students, mainly because of Kwik’s insanely prestigious reputation.

He’s kind of like a celebrity teacher, with connections amongst the highest echelons of the business and professional world, from Elon Musk to Bill Gates.

Is Superbrain All Just Hype? Is It “Legit”?

YouTube video

It’s easy to think it’s all just hype; Mindvalley tends to oversell a lot of their courses and sometimes exaggerate what certain courses offer and how they can help.

But Superbrain is something else and I wish I’d learned that sooner.

It took me a while to get myself to sit down and actually sign up for the Superbrain Quest myself, simply because I was always a believer of, “you can’t teach old dogs new tricks”.

In other words, I always felt that whatever brain power and mental energy I have as an adult is what I’ll have for the rest of my life.

If I procrastinate, if I lose focus, and if I forget things, that’s just because that’s who I am, and there’s little I can do to change that.

But I remember that one day I made a huge, silly mistake that made me feel like an old man with dementia; this was a new low for me.

That was the day I decided I needed help and signed up for Superbrain. And I haven’t looked back since.

What Jim Kwik’s Superbrain Quest Is All About

Jim Kwik’s Superbrain course can be summed up with two words: brain training. So what in the world is brain training?

The easiest way to understand brain training is by comparing it to a muscle — your brain is a muscle like every other part of your body, and the only way to make muscles grow is by challenging it.

It isn’t enough to just live life as you normally do; the brain needs to be challenged and tested for any growth to occur, and Kwik seems to have mastered the science behind this.

The Superbrain Quest is a 34-day Mindvalley course that provides daily online video classes on the subject of maximizing or overclocking your brain.

Jim Kwik, founder of Kwik Learning (a company that specializes in helping students improve and enhance their brain performance), promises the following with the Superbrain Quest:

  • You will develop a much stronger and quicker memory
  • You will learn new things from languages to instruments to topics more thoroughly, more deeply, and more quickly
  • You will gain significant advantages that will help you accelerate your career
  • You will develop greater concentration and greater resilience against the tendency to procrastinate
  • You will learn how to switch between tasks faster and more effectively
  • You will ward off the dangers of developing dementia and increase your IQ
You will develop greater general mental performance overall

Jim Kwik’s Brain Training and the F.A.S.T. System

Here’s the thing: Jim Kwik and his brain training is the real deal.

There’s a reason why he’s been trusted by countless high-profile CEOs, public speakers and modern philosophers, because his methods work.

Studies have found that adult students who undergo brain training methods actually experience a significant increase in the grey matter in their brains, indicating not just a sign of mental growth, but a physiological, neurological one as well.

The specific skill sets that Jim Kwik’s brain training methods engage include speed reading, memory exercises, and concentration skills.

There is also some learning around the topics of productivity hacks, focus improvement, and reading comprehension.

What makes this course uniquely different from other brain training packages out there is that all of these lessons are shaped around Jim Kwik’s “F.A.S.T. System”, which Kwik has developed over his years of improving his own brain training methods.

The F.A.S.T. System stands for:

F – Forget: Forget the negative thought patterns that your brain tends to put up. You need to learn how to think about topics like a beginner again, so you can understand how to relearn them properly.

A – Active: An active presence is required to actually learn. Your brain needs to be actively engaged with exercises and “stretches”, learning to use new skills in creative and unexpected ways.

S – State: Emotional state is just as important as anything else when it comes to learning. Jim Kwik teaches you how to regulate your emotions and ensure a positive experience before every lesson.

T – Teach: After you learn something yourself, the best way to truly dig it in is to teach it yourself. This gives your brain the opportunity to process the new information in ways that are familiar to you, adding your own label to it and making it a permanent addition to your knowledge.

Who Is the Superbrain Quest For?

With most courses on Mindvalley, I tend to say that they’re meant for everyone, as long as you’re interested and willing to put in the time.

I always ask myself the question when considering a course (whether for myself or for other people): “Will this course teach me/them practical skills that will truly impact my/their life?”

With Superbrain this isn’t always the case. We would all benefit from increased concentration, stronger memory and retention, and greater productivity, but there’s a business angle to the way Kwik approaches every topic.

It’s more catered to people who have the intention to improve their career, learning how to network, and increase their ability to understand new concepts and practically apply whatever they learn.

Don’t get me wrong; these are amazing skills to hone and develop. But they don’t benefit everyone equally.

Some people prefer theoretical approaches to learning and brain training, and I would recommend those people to courses that focused on concepts and ideas rather than practical training lessons and quizzes.

Jim Kwik’s Superbrain course is best for people who love hands-on learning, learning that actively engages the brain in fun and interesting training methods and challenges that they can do day after day.

You would love Superbrain if… Superbrain might not be for you if…
You respond well to hands-on, self-sufficient learning with practical applications and challenges You prefer theoretical approaches to learning shaped around ideas and theory
You have an active interest in growing your career and/or business, and the skills around networking and business growth You aren’t really interested in business-related topics and you are content with your career and professional life
You have always loved productivity and brain hacks, and you are ready to commit to a course that requires active daily participation and engagement You aren’t really concerned about your productivity and would prefer a “chill” course

Jim Kwik: Why He’s The Perfect Mentor

Jim Kwik didn’t always have this “superpower” and I feel like that’s what makes him the perfect mentor for speed learning. Jim is pretty open about his humble beginning.

At five years old, Kwik experienced a head injury that severely affected his cognitive skills.

Because of this, he struggled to keep up with the other kids in school to the point that he was convinced his brain was broken.

Through the years, he refined the way he learned because of his “disability”.

He figured out different techniques to absorb information precisely because traditional methods didn’t work best for him.

Jim’s approach to knowledge and brain training is simple: if you put in the work, you can develop cognitive “superpowers” regardless of your educational background. The only prerequisite to enhanced learning is dedication and consistency.

His personal experience with learning, coupled with his years as a social entrepreneur, definitely helped him strike the balance between savant and teacher.

Kwik’s Superbrain quest isn’t particularly new.

His company, Kwik Brain, is an online learning platform dedicated to brain and learning optimization.

If you’ve never heard of Jim Kwik before, I suggest looking into his free class on Mindvalley.

You get to see how he really talks and understand if his teaching style is compatible with your learning style.

Kwik also has some free resources up on his own Youtube channel. I recommend watching his Building Mental Toughness video since it really reflects what you get from these classes, including the benefits you get from becoming one of Kwik’s many students.

Everything You Get With The Superbrain Quest

Superbrain is a premium quest from Mindvalley. A solo Quest access for just the course itself costs $449, but you can get the entire program plus near-all access to Mindvalley’s extensive library for $599 a year.

I recommend getting the All Access pass just because you get a lot more value for nearly the same price.

Purchasing the Superbrain quest gives you:

  • About 8.5 hours of video courses split into eight different parts
  • Access to an exclusive community of ongoing and old students through a Facebook group
  • A workbook with supplementary training material for practical applications of your learning
  • Daily assignments that keep you engaged throughout the course
  • Three bonus videos: “Overcoming Procrastination”, “Your 8 Cs to Muscle Memory”, and “Remembering Your Dreams”
  • Exclusive access to prerecorded Q&A sessions with Jim Kwik himself
  • Lifetime access to digital copies compatible with Android, iOS, Windows, and OS devices

This quest is split into eight different parts, further split into two sessions each week:

Part 1: Welcome To The Fundamentals

If you’re unfamiliar with speed learning and brain optimization like I was, you don’t have the burden of getting an introduction to the topic because the class already does it for you.

Part one is all about preparing yourself to be more receptive towards new learning techniques.

I personally enjoyed this intro because it feels like a warm up before jumping straight into the real work.

Even if you’re already a novice to memory and learning enhancement, I imagine Kwik’s personal approach, refined by years of application and implementation, will serve as a good refresher before getting started.

Part 2: Lifestyle

This part goes deep into the physiological aspects of learning. I’ve heard other students talk about how Superbrain helped them develop healthier habits.

I finally understood where they were coming from after finishing this section.

The lifestyle aspect is about the important role sleep, exercise, and nutrition play in shaping your brain into this amazing knowledge sponge.

From sleep recommendations to brain enhancing-foods, it’s basically your cheat sheet to enhancing brain performance.

Part 3-4: Remembering

Parts three and four tackle a fundamental aspect of enhanced learning: memory. In part three, Kwik goes into the popular “Chain Linking” memory method and how beginners can use it to remember copious amounts of data.

These sections don’t just throw you in the deep end; Kwik provides step-by-step recommendations on how to apply these techniques for improved memory.

The coolest thing about these sections is that Kwik reminds us that memory is not innate.

This definitely refined my understanding of memory as some sort of skill rather than an inherent ability.

Part 5: Vocabulary & Languages

As the name suggests, week five is all about improving your linguistic acumen. This part is all about deconstructing languages and using keyword substitution in order to speed up your mastery of any language.

Here Kwik encourages us not to think of specific languages as impossible to learn, only slightly more challenging than the rest.

Part 6: Memorizing Speeches & Texts

Kwik’s work with entrepreneurs and other high-performing individuals definitely shines through here.

This section is specifically dedicated to speeches and performance.

It’s a great cumulation from the techniques he discussed in weeks three and four.

In part six, he builds it up to help students memorize entire speeches and remember any contact without fail.

Part 7: Numbers

Part seven is definitely the section I looked forward to the most.

Despite running multiple businesses, I can confidently say that I’m not particularly proficient with numbers.

Kwik talks about a concept entirely new to me called “Sounds of Memory”, where learners begin perceiving numbers and digits as sounds rather than physical concepts.

It’s definitely an interesting approach, but more importantly it works well.

Part 8: Lifestyle Integration

The Superbrain quest concludes with lifestyle integration. Kwik shares his secrets on implementing advanced learning even in real life.

These sessions help you integrate what you’ve learned into everything — from simple everyday tasks to problem-solving more complicated issues.

Is Jim Kwik’s Superbrain Quest Worth It?

I’ve always been slightly skeptical (if not a little suspicious) of brain training because of all the hype around it.

Too many instructors and online classes make it seem like all you have to do is close your eyes and tap into some radiofrequency in the background and you’re magically a better learner.

Not once did I feel duped when I was going through the Superbrain quest.

This quest doesn’t just dump you with theoretical information on brain enhancement; Kwik provides structured, actionable advice in improving your memory and cognitive abilities.

If you’re the kind of person who learns through practical implementation (how else would you put your cognitive abilities to the test), then the Superbrain quest is definitely for you.

Jim Kwik is a superb instructor and the quality of the videos and class materials definitely makes the experience more engaging.

It feels as though you’re in a class with him.

He’s just like one of those college professors you can’t get enough of.

Overall, I enjoyed the Superbrain quest more than I thought I would.

It definitely presents some out-of-the-box techniques that can feel weird at first, but it’s definitely a good brain workout if anything.
