10 signs of telephathic communication

Growing up I’d have to say that telepathy was never something I took seriously.

If you’d asked me I would have told you it was just a topic Stephen King wrote about or psychics used to scam gullible people in their back alley shops. But since that time certain experiences have convinced me otherwise.

I’m now confident in saying that not only do I believe telepathy is real, I also believe it is much more common than we are led to believe.

Here are the top 10 signs of telepathic communication:

1) Eye contact becomes a conversation

Eye contact isn’t just about the eyes or emotions. It goes deeper than that.

Spiritual writer Raphael Cushnir puts it well on the subject of eye contact, writing that unlike speaking:

“Eye contact, by contrast, is immediate. It can cut through all our defenses and bring us heart to heart. And it can quickly reveal any personal or interpersonal issues that might be in the way.”

When you have a telepathic connection with someone you can hear what they’re saying through their eyes.

I am not sure quite how else to explain it and if you’ve experienced it then you probably have some idea what I’m talking about.

You make eye contact and you get an overwhelming feeling, knowledge, or connection to a specific message from someone.

It can be from the ordinary, such as getting the strong sense they are scared or personally disturbed, or it can get more specific and be something like them telling you to look behind you or that they don’t want to go to the thing they were just invited to.

How is this different than just being sensitive to how someone feels or intuitive?

The difference is the certainty: without words, you’ll be crystal clear and certain what they mean without them saying and you’ll rarely – if ever — be wrong.

2) You know what’s going on with them without having to ask

Telepathy isn’t some spooky thing out of Stranger Things or teenage horror novels.

It can be as simple as looking at someone and being around them and feeling certain you know what’s going on with them and what they’re thinking about without even having to ask.

This is one of my favorite signs of telepathic communication: dreams.

4) Your thoughts align for no visible reason

In many cases, one of the top signs of telepathic communication is being on the same page.

Despite long odds, you may find that your thoughts align with someone in uncanny and unexpected ways. It’s not just that you’re both hungry at the same time, it’s often much more specific:

You may have just thought of a spiritual topic that’s been on your mind a lot at precisely the same moment or decided that it would be great to go on vacation or to read a particular book. You’re on the same wavelength and it’s beautiful.

In fact, when we connect profoundly our actual neurons start firing in sync, which could help explain some intuitively telepathic communication experiences.

Having a strong connection with someone does lead to a kind of “mind meld” like Brandon Keim calls it in Wired, writing that:

5) You can read them like an open book

Mental telepathy isn’t always about talking without words: sometimes it’s more about awareness. Even when someone is being coy or hiding something you can read them like an open book.

Think of a salesman who anticipates exactly what you’re thinking about, your doubts, and your questions before you even ask, no matter how unique or individual.

Then intensify that by ten times and apply it to crucial life situations, conflicts, potential, and times where guidance may be needed. The telepathic communication takes place at the heart level.

You just know something is wrong or right, and you know what it is, even sometimes for people you don’t know well or have just met.

Being able to read someone like an open book is one of the top signs of telepathic communication.

An important aspect of this to keep in mind is also that despite getting people at a deep level and being able to read them easily in most cases, it doesn’t bore you.

You don’t feel a lack of substance or depression:

Rather, you feel a sense of camaraderie and connection. The other person feels it too.

6) Silence says a thousand words

Telepathic communication doesn’t need words or even specific thoughts.

Sometimes its strongest expression is silence itself and what the silence says:

Comfort, emotional support, sharing, and solidarity.

When you feel a powerful bond with someone you don’t need to fill it with chatter, many expressions, and shared mental endeavors:

…How can you train your intellect in noise? How can you structure your thought and the contours of your interior being in noise? How can you be open to the mystery of God, to spiritual values, and to our human greatness in continual turmoil?”

7) Timing lines up in the strangest, nonverbal ways

As well as finding that you’re often on the same page in terms of what you’re thinking, another of the top signs of telepathic communication is that your timing in lifelines up as well.

You both become fascinated by Chopin at the same time, or take up an interest in cycling.

Your timing is never forced, but flows naturally like a babbling brook leading onwards and always coming together in the most fortuitous ways. The occurrence of moments of splendid serendipity may even throw you for a loop.

What is going on, you wonder. Telepathy is what’s going on.

Like in so many situations in the past — almost too many for me to count — timing has come together with someone and it’s felt like we’re both reading from the same movie script.

It’s uncanny and it’s part of why I started to believe in telepathy.

8) You can shape each other’s thoughts

This is next-level stuff, but I’ve personally experienced it.

One of my oldest and best friends is a brilliant and funny young lady called Tessie. She has a big flaw when it comes to other people though: she’s overly trusting and can be a little gullible.

Recently, I was helping her shop for a lawnmower and the sales guy was really putting the works on, all about unnecessary warranties and upselling her on lawn machines I knew she didn’t need and that would be too bulky to be enjoyable.

I had on a fairly neutral look, but inside I was telling her “this guy is full of shit, be careful.” After only a few seconds I saw her smile and nods slow down.

I truly believe I was influencing and shaping her thoughts.

9) Someone seems to send you an invisible warning or caution

This has definitely happened to me before.

Right before a bad car accident — that could have been much worse — I received a strong intuition in my mind from my grandmother saying to be careful. I got an uneasy feeling but also felt like she was watching over me.

When the accident happened I responded as calmly as possible, steering out of the worst part of it – and part of the reason was I felt I’d been telepathically warned ahead of time.

10) You just know what someone is trying to say

Another of the clearest signs of telepathic communication is being able to tell what someone is trying to say even when you can’t physically hear them well or they are in an agitated or confused state.

Garbles come out, but in your head, you hear words as clear as a bell.

Without knowing quite why, you just know what this individual is saying.

And they may look at you gratefully as they see that somehow and some way you can simply see into their mind and hear the words they’re having trouble saying.

This is a remarkable skill and can be especially helpful during difficult moments in relationships or in jobs which involve deep interpersonal communication such as being a therapist.

As you can see from the above signs of telepathy, it’s a fascinating phenomenon that can happen in subtle ways you don’t notice at first.

It can be hard to know for sure if you’re communicating telepathically or just getting very in touch with your intuition, but if many of the above signs are accurate for you then you’re definitely in the zone.
