21 signs from the universe that someone is thinking of you

Do you ever just feel like someone is thinking about you?

You’re going on about your day and you’re convinced you’re running on someone’s mind.

The universe has a funny (and unexplainable) way of working — connections can span thousands of miles to the point that we just have this feeling when someone is thinking about us.

From mysterious dreams to unprecedented mood swings, something in the air is different.

That, or a special someone is actually trying hard to get your attention.

There can be both psychic and more obvious manifestations of a person missing you.

Random texts and small acts of kindness are just two ways people say I miss you and I’ve been thinking about you.

Read on to learn how to decipher if someone is missing you and confirm once and for all that it’s not just in your head.

1) You Dream About Them

Some people believe that dreams are a doorway to a “higher self”, where we are more psychically connected with those around us.

Dreams give us a way to experience a higher level of consciousness, and connect with people in ways we didn’t know were possible.

So when you often dream about someone, it could mean that they are reaching out to you without realizing it by thinking about you.

Their consciousness connects with yours through the power and consistency of their thoughts directed towards you.

If you start to feel that you are constantly seeing the same person in your dreams, then start keeping track.

Begin keeping your own dream journal that sits right next to your bed. In this journal, write about your dreams immediately after you wake up, before you begin to forget them.

After a while, you might discover patterns and find a way to decipher what they’re thinking.

Talk about a miracle manifestation!

2) You Get Hiccups Randomly

Hiccups have traditionally been associated with thoughts from another person, but it’s not clear whether those thoughts are positive or negative.

While we often get hiccups after eating or drinking too quickly, there are times when we get hiccups for no explainable reason.

If you find yourself with hiccups, consider the possible natural causes for them first, such as:

  • Eating or drinking too much or too quickly
  • Abdominal surgery
  • Certain medications
  • Nerve-irritating diseases

When you experience hiccups without going through any of the above, then someone might be intensely thinking about you.

3) You Smile Subconsciously Without Knowing It

Your body reacts to what your mind feels, even if you don’t feel it at a fully surface and conscious level.

So think about the times when you found yourself smiling for no reason, even if you don’t really have a reason to feel happy or joyful at all.

It could even be at the most inappropriate times; maybe you were in the middle of class or in the middle of a presentation, or someone was telling you a particularly tragic story.

But no matter how much you tried to resist, you couldn’t — you found yourself smiling from ear to ear for no real reason.

When these smiles happen, it’s a result of the mind experiencing a wave of positivity it couldn’t push back down.

This happens when someone out there thinks about you intently with positive vibes, and unknowingly connects with you on a subconscious, psychic level.

4) Your Eye Twitches Out Of Nowhere

Have you ever felt that sudden itch or twitch of the eye?

This could happen while you’re reading a book or driving in a car, or doing anything else throughout the day.

Out of nowhere your eye just suddenly starts twitching or itching, and there’s nothing you can do to stop it.

Many cultures have historically associated the unexplained sudden eye twitch with someone thinking about you, but that doesn’t always mean it’s a good thing.

These sudden thoughts could be either positive or negative, meaning they might be thinking great things about you, or trash-talking to you in the minds (or to someone else!).

5) You Feel Energy Around You

There’s so much we don’t understand about the universe, and a growing number of people strongly believe in the power of energy — energy that we give off from ourselves which affects those around us.

This energy comes from inside of us; from our thoughts and from our souls, and it’s something we can’t hide in the way we can hide our actions and words.

So when you feel a strange sense of energy around you, this is likely due to someone thinking about you, and their thoughts manifest the kind of energy you might be feeling.

If they’re thinking negatively about you, you might experience a tense and alert mind, as if there’s someone out to get you.

With positive thoughts, you’ll feel an overall positive aura that embodies everything you experience, making everything seem brighter and lighter.

6) You Suddenly Feel The Need To Be With Them

When you have someone in your life that you love, it can be hard to resist thinking something along the lines of, “I wish I was with them right now!”

Think about all the times you experienced an amazing view or something ridiculously fun, and you thought, “I wish they were here to see this too!”

Think about the times you took the first bite of an amazing meal and your first thought was, “I wish he/she was here to eat this with me!”

This sudden desire to be around them even when a second ago they weren’t on your mind at all can be reflective of the positive vibes they’re sending your way by thinking about you.

7) You Experience Sudden Emotional Swings

An interesting thing about our thoughts is that they psychically connect us to the person we’re thinking about, and this works even more effectively when those thoughts are going in both directions; if you’re thinking about him/her, and he/she is also thinking about you.

That’s why we experience these unexplained sudden bursts of energy around us, or the desire to be with them, and so much more.

But this psychic connection can also lead to sudden mood swings. Why? Because the person you’re psychically linked with might be experiencing a strong mood, and you’re unknowingly feeding off that energy.

The strong mood also doesn’t necessarily have to do anything with you; just the fact that you two are connected can mean your moods influence each other across distances.

8) You Unknowingly Think About Them

You see signs of them everywhere.

While you’re at school, while you’re at work, while you’re walking through the mall with your friends, you see hints and reminders of them wherever you go.

You can’t get them out of your mind, no matter how hard and how actively you try.

The simple fact is, they’ve bonded with you by thinking about you so much.

How many times have you picked up your phone, texted them to tell them that you’re thinking about them, and get a reply from them saying that they’ve been thinking about you too?

That’s not just a coincidence.

9) You Can Hear Them and Feel Them

When you have a deep connection with someone, your bond transcends space and time.

This means that you feel them in a way that goes beyond your thoughts and the energy around you, but you can experience them with your senses as well.

Think about the last time you thought you heard them or even felt them, even if they weren’t near you at all.

They could’ve been halfway around the world, but you could’ve sworn that you heard them call out your name, laugh at a joke with you, or even rest their hand on yours.

This may be the most powerful sign of a deep and spiritual connection, and if you ever develop this with another person, consider yourself very lucky.

10) He Shares Stuff He Knows You’ll Like

Ever find yourself scrolling on social media and laughing hysterically at jokes that seem aimed directly at you, or constantly seeing posts that are absolutely related to your interests?

And have you ever noticed that these posts, videos, and articles are being shared by the same person?

Sharing things on social media to catch someone’s attention is something we all do, so if you feel that someone is trying to reach out to you with what they share on their social feeds, then they probably are.

People do this for two reasons: they want to catch your attention, but they also want to show you that they share your same interests.

Whether this is actually the case or not, it helps to remember — it’s the thought that counts, and their effort to get your attention in this digital age is more endearing than creepy.

11) His Friends and Family Know You

This is especially meaningful if you don’t even know about his friends and family.

Maybe you’ve never had the chance to be formally introduced but somehow the people in his life know all about you.

If his friends or relatives crack an inside joke, call you endearing terms, or even tease you about him, chances are he can’t stop talking about you with them.

One major giveaway is if they openly talk about how much he likes you. That, or if they ask if you like him back.

Sometimes guys who are interested in you will use his friends and relatives as a gateway into your affections.

Maybe he’s scared to tell you how he really feels. Maybe he doesn’t even know that he likes you and subconsciously talks about you with other people.

Either way, this is a pretty good sign that you’re on his mind even when you’re not together.

12) He Remembers The Small Things

Guys who like you will remember the things you say, no matter how small they are. From obscure TV references to your coffee preferences.

They pay attention to you because they want to please you.

Their attentiveness translates into thoughtfulness: they give you appropriate gifts because they know the things you like or they remind you when you have appointments because you mentioned it in one of your conversations.

The more telling sign is if they remember things you’ve mentioned in passing.

This means they’re hyper-aware of everything about you that even the smallest details in your conversations become important to him.

Want to test this out?

Mention something small and insignificant in one of your conversations.

You can mention a joke from your favorite TV show or a quote from one of your favorite books.

The next time you see each other, ask him about “that time I told you about” and see what he says.

A guy who’s constantly thinking about you will play your conversations in his mind over and over again. He’ll likely remember exactly what you’re talking about even if you only said it in passing.

13) You Get Random Texts Throughout The Day

Your phone beeps out of nowhere and before you even look down you know it’s already him.

He either tagged you in a funny post or dropped a quick hello just to see what you’re doing.

Either way, he’s staying in touch with you even when he doesn’t have to.

A guy who’s thinking about you can’t help but gravitate towards you.

If you’re receiving random messages throughout the day, about absolutely nothing important at all, take it as a sign that he’s missing you.

Texting you is a way most guys say “I miss you” or “I’m thinking about you”.

They may not even know that they’re doing this but texting you randomly is a way for them to close the physical gap in the way they can.

14) He Likes Old Posts On Social Media

This is especially telling for guys you just met.

If he has a habit of accidentally liking your old posts from two to three years ago, it’s obvious he’s lurking around your social media profiles to find out more about you.

After all, pretty much no one scrolls as far back as 2017; that’s ancient history.

He’s probably doing some recon to figure out what kind of person you are. He wants to get closer to you and learn more about your personality, likes, and dislikes but he’s so excited he’s decided to do his own research.

It’s not just the old posts you should keep an eye on. If he instantly likes, comments, or engages with any of your posts, it’s probably more than mere coincidence.

He might have you set up notifications so he’s instantly updated the moment you post something online.

15) He Lights Up When He Sees You

You walk into a room and you can practically feel his eyes burning into you. You look at him and there he is, smiling and waving excitedly just as you thought he’d be.

Just seeing you is enough to make his day.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve been apart weeks or even just a couple of days — he always misses you and wants to be around you constantly. Just being close to you is enough to make him feel happy and excited.

And it’s not just one or two times either.

Every single time you finally get into the same room, he instantly gravitates to you and enters your personal bubble.

He leaves whatever he was previously engaged in and is magnetized to your location. It’s like he’s trying to soak up every second that you’re breathing the same air.

16) He Knows Stuff You Didn’t Even Tell Him Personally

Ever had a guy ask you about something you don’t ever remember telling him? Like a secret with a mutual friend or a buried post on social media?

Guys who are thinking about you will try to fill in the gap of your absence by either talking about you or learning more about you.

Maybe you have mutual friends; a guy who’s nuts about you will find endless ways to coax stories out of people you know.

He wants to know what you’re up to without having to ask and this is his way of filling in the blanks.

On the flip side, he could also be stalking you on social media. This means mentioning or remembering posts you don’t even remember posting.

If you think him talking about “that one lunch” you had is weird, forgive him; he’s just trying to get close to you.

What he’s really doing is using the little bits of information he learns about you as an opportunity to break the ice and find a deeper connection.

17) He Asks For Your Opinion

This is especially telling with guys you don’t have a prior connection with.

Think about it this way: why would a guy suddenly ask you, out of all the other people in his life, for your thoughts on things like which shirt he should buy or what haircut he should go with.

It’s even more revelatory when he includes you in potentially life-changing decisions.

Men are generally independent beings.

They like keeping to themselves or prefer asking their other guy friends for help.

If he turns to you instead, it’s safe to assume that this guy is into you and is asking for your opinion to get into your good graces.

Not that that’s a bad thing! He might not even be consciously cozying up to you.

Maybe he’s asking your opinion because he genuinely thinks you can add so much value to his life.

This subconscious preference for your opinion specifically shows he thinks of you highly.

18) You Get Little Presents Every Time You See Each Other

This one is a no-brainer. A person who thinks about you will find little ways to let you know.

Things like coffee delivered to your place, team tasks done without you asking, or small souvenirs whenever they go out of town are all tell-tale signs that someone is thinking about you even when you’re not around.

19) He Notices The New Things About You

He always seems to notice what’s new with you, whether you’re sporting a cute new hairdo or wearing a new pair of sneakers.

It’s like he has a built-in scanner in his head and he’s hyper aware of anything and everything that involves you.

It’s not just the physical stuff either.

Maybe you’ve gone radio silence on social media so he’s asking how you’re doing and if everything is going alright.

Maybe he noticed you’re a little quieter than usual so he’s trying to bring your spirits up.

The point is, this person is so focused on you that he can easily tell if there’s something up, whether it’s a change in your physical appearance or something more serious.

20) He’s Asking About Your Plans

Being away from you must be agonizing for him because he’s not sure what you’re doing.

Are you with someone else? Are you busy? Are you free to hang out?

So he’s easing his anxiety by trying to get an idea of what your schedule looks like.

Just knowing what you might be doing can be comforting with him.

Guys can be a little territorial, even if they don’t mean it aggressively. Knowing what you’re doing can help him feel more in control of the situation and of his own feelings.

21) His Friends Talk To You About Him

Are his friends suspiciously curious of you and your relationship status? Do they tend to talk him up and insert him in every possible situation imaginable? If so, they might be acting as a wingman for their friend.

A guy who’s thinking about you constantly likely won’t be able to stop talking about you either. Maybe his friends are sick of the “what ifs” and “could it bes” and are trying to play cupid.

If his friends tease you a lot and talk about how compatible the two of you are, then there’s no doubting that the guy definitely likes you.
