What is reality shifting?

Reality shifting is a way to enter the reality of your dreams using your imagination.

You can shift reality based on your own personal interpretations, or you can use tools like the pillow method to achieve this.

Reality shifting is done with intention and will.

There are countless methods to shift realities, but almost all of them include two things: an idea of which reality you want to experience and affirmations that will help get you there.

Through reality shifting you can live out your wildest dreams, like spending a year at Hogwarts, learning how to do magic, or flying around on a dragon!

What is the pillow method?

The pillow method is a simple and effective way to enter the reality of your dreams.

You can use it to shift from the waking world into the dream world or vice versa.

Using this method, you can make a wish, visualize what it would be like, and then enter that reality without any problems.

The best part about the pillow method is that it is by far the easiest way to shift realities.

You see, most other methods take place while you are awake, this one happens when you go to sleep.

So basically, you will live out the realities of your dreams in your dreams! How cool is that?

It’s a little bit like lucid dreaming, but I will explain more about it in a second.

Step 1: Write a reality shifting script

The first step in this method is to write a script.

Scripts are a part of almost every reality-shifting practice.

You see, the script is very important. First of all, it will allow you to notice whether or not you have already entered your reality, but it will also keep you safe.

Not that reality shifting is dangerous, but when you have a script, you will know exactly what will happen in your reality.

So, what should you write in your script? Well, you can write anything you want!

Just keep in mind that there are no rules.

You see, if you have rules, it will be harder to get into the right state of mind.

Now: write about anything that you want to experience while reality shifting.

For example, if you were wanting to know what superpower you would want: “If I could have any superpower, which one would I choose?” “I would choose the ability of flight.”

You’re also going to ask how you will know it worked. For example, “What will I notice when I wake up?” And then, “I’ll notice that my feet are off the ground.”

This will help you notice when your shift has worked!

With your script, you can be as creative as you want. You can write out every single detail or you can stick to keywords of what you want to experience.

Make sure that you have fun with this process, it’s meant to get you excited for the experience.

Step 2: Write down affirmations

Now, before you go to bed, write down affirmations on your pillow.

These are positive statements about what you want to happen in your life.

For example: “I am shifting,” or “Shifting is easy”.

Some other affirmations to write down and repeat are:

  • I can and I will go into my desired reality.
  • I am happy in my desired reality.
  • All my desires are coming true in this reality.
  • My desired reality is amazing.
  • I can go to my desired reality whenever I want.

It’s important that they are in the present tense, that makes them much more effective.

Your subconscious mind will search for ways to help make these things happen.

Write these affirmations down on a piece of paper and read them out loud a few times.

Step 3: Place the papers underneath your pillow

Want to know why this method is called the pillow method? This is why:

Now, simply place your thoughts and desires under your pillow. These papers should include your script and your affirmations.

This is also why I recommend writing your stuff down on a piece of paper as opposed to your phone.

Putting your phone under your pillow might feel similar, but realistically, there is so much information on your phone that your script and affirmations won’t stand out.

Plus, not everyone wants the phone’s radiation right next to their head all night.

Step 4: Visualize your reality and set the stage

Now that you have your script and affirmations under your pillow, it’s time to visualize your reality.

Imagine waking up in your reality, as if you are actually going to wake up.

Imagine how you will feel when you are standing up and how the ground feels under your feet.

Imagine how it will be to fly or teleport around, or just walk through walls!

You can also imagine that you are wearing different outfits, or that it is nighttime! You don’t have to stick with just one thing.

If you want to see what it would be like to be a superhero, imagine yourself as Superman flying through Metropolis on a cloud or something!

It doesn’t matter what kind of reality you imagine; all that matters is that you get into the right state of mind before trying out this method.

Go through your script again and visualize the details you described there. The more you can do this, the more likely it will be that you actually enter your desired reality.

Step 5: Fall asleep

A lot of people who use the pillow method find that it works better than other methods because they fall asleep first and then do the shift after.

If you are someone who has trouble falling asleep, you can try some methods to make yourself sleepy before this step.

You could drink a calming tea, for example.

Anyways, however you go about it, try to fall asleep.

After having written the script and affirmations and put them under your pillow, your visualization might carry you over to dreamland.

If it’s easier for you, you could also try reciting your affirmations until you drift off to sleep.

After you have fallen asleep in the right state of mind, you will notice that you will wake up in your dream in your desired reality.

It’s as easy as that! If you want to wake up in another reality, just repeat the steps again.

What are some benefits of reality shifting?

Reality shifting is not just an enjoyable pastime; it has some physical and mental benefits.

One of the most common benefits people see from reality shifting is improved sleep quality.

This means that you are getting better sleep, which can help you feel more energized throughout the day.

But there are so many other benefits to reality shifting as well!

One of them is that it is a nice distraction from everyday life.

Let’s be honest, everyone has something that helps them switch off their mind a bit and escape to a different world.

For some, it’s:

  • reading
  • social media
  • watching tv
  • playing video games
  • drugs
  • alcohol
  • creating art

Reality shifting is just another one of those and it helps you find a healthy balance in life.

You see, in the end, it is all about balance.

Reality shifting is a great way to get into a better state of mind and enjoy life, without letting the stress of everyday life take over.

Another benefit people see from reality shifting is that it helps you see things in perspective, again helping you balance your life out.

Other reality shifting methods

There are many other reality-shifting methods, which range from being pretty simple to highly complex.

The Raven method

One example is the Raven method. With it, you repeat the same steps as the pillow method, first writing your script, then your affirmations.

Next, you will lay down in a starfish position and count to 100, trying to stay focused on your affirmations and your counting.

When you reach 100, you might start to feel like you are in your desired reality already, and you can “open your eyes” to it.

If not, you keep counting down to 1 again and start from scratch.

This process is a little harder as you are awake during the whole thing, as opposed to the pillow method, where you are asleep.

The heartbeat method

This method uses the vibrations and sound of a heartbeat to bring you into your desired reality faster.

You can use headphones for this method and play the sound of a heartbeat.

Then you imagine the sound of this heartbeat coming from a person in your desired reality who you wish to connect with.

As you can probably imagine, that makes the reality shifting process a whole lot easier!

The Julia method

The Julia method relies heavily on affirmations.

With it, you will continuously repeat phrases that start with “I am”.

These mantras can be anything, from “I am shifting to my desired reality” to “I am becoming a better version of myself”.

Let yourself get lost in the repetition of these mantras, and you will notice yourself shifting.

The Sunni method

With the Sunni method, you are tricking your brain into believing that you are already in your desired reality.

For example, when you wake up, right before opening your eyes, imagine that you are lying in a forest.

See if you can hear the birds chirping and if you can smell the moss around you.

The more you visualize yourself in a different place, the more you will forget about your body lying in bed at home.

This can be a fun method to use if you only have a few moments of time.

Countless others

Of course, there are countless other methods to shifting realities, but these are the most relevant ones.

The thing is, it’s not one-size-fits-all, you will have to try out different methods and see which one works best for you.

It’s like meditation: some people like guided meditations, other people like binaural beats, and still others prefer silence.

See what makes you shift the easiest and then stick with that.

Is reality shifting dangerous?

Reality shifting is not dangerous, but it should not be used as a way to escape reality on a regular basis.

If you’re suffering from an illness or going through some trauma, I would recommend talking to a therapist first.

Reality shifting will only work if you are open and willing to experience new things.

If you’re not open to experiencing new realities, then this method will probably not work for you.

I mentioned earlier how reality shifting is similar to playing video games, social media, watching tv, etc.

You see, these things can help you find a balance in your life and escape reality for a bit, but it can also be too much of a good thing.

The thing is, when you feel the urge to constantly shift realities because your imagined reality is so much better than real life, you will soon run into some issues.

Turns out your life isn’t going anywhere, and just because you’re escaping it doesn’t mean that this will help you in any way!

Quite the contrary, the more you escape, the more you might feel miserable in your real life!

You’re just going to be unhappy and frustrated.

That’s why I would recommend that you do reality shifting in moderation.

If you’re doing it too much, then it can trigger an escape-response in your brain, which will start to drain your willpower.

This is why I would recommend that you check in with yourself once in a while and ask yourself the question: “Am I really doing this because I enjoy it or because I’m trying to escape something in my life?”

If the answer is the latter, then stop doing reality shifting and try to deal with whatever issue it is you are facing!

Or, if you don’t stop completely, at least pace yourself a bit and make sure you don’t spend your entire life in your desired reality.
