Much philosophy has been written on the topic of happiness. From Aristotle to Buddha, philosophers have been questioning this emotion for centuries.

Yet even with all that knowledge, there still seems to be no true consensus on what happiness is and how to achieve it.

Happiness and vibrational energy

One thing that’s certain though, is that any attempts at achieving lasting happiness must go through understanding the energy of life – a fundamental force famously portrayed in western culture as “chi”.

There’s an old Chinese adage that goes “all things in moderation”.

“Chi” is often translated as “energy”, but such simplistic definitions cannot capture the complexity of its true nature.

In fact, this ancient knowledge has been kept secret for centuries, since it’s not just getting the balance wrong, but also about entering into a mode of thinking that is beyond our current thinking limitations.

To experience true happiness, our life force energy must be balanced. Achieving this balance may require years of work, but here are a few ways you can use every day to harness your life force and be happier.

12 ways to use vibrational energy to be happy

1) Meditate

Meditation is one of the most important aspects of raising your vibration.

Here’s a simple way to meditate:

Find a quiet place where you can sit comfortably, maybe put some relaxing music on in the background so that it helps to drown out any background noise that might distract you from focusing your energy on you, and focus on your breathing.

Close your eyes (or keep them half-open), and relax.

Breathe in lightly and slowly, hold it a little longer than usual, then exhale. Repeat this process until you feel calm and relaxed. If it helps, count each breath as one-and-two-and-three…

Focus only on the moment and the breath going in and out of your body. If you find yourself focusing on something else, bring your consciousness back to the present moment.

Through this focused breathing, you will be able to enter a state where you won’t be worried about the future or what you have to do today. All that matters in that moment is your breath and nothing else.

Your mind will quieten down, and as an effect, you will feel lighter and less burdened by stress. It really is that simple.

Meditation does not need to be religious or even spiritual – it can simply be a way of life.

2) Smell

With all of the things currently going on in the world, one of the most enjoyable things you can do is take time to enjoy the scent of flowers, nature or even someone’s perfume.

The sense of smell is directly linked to our emotions; it’s how we connect with others and how love is born. It’s also how you can get rid of stress.

The best way is to breathe in the smell of nature.

If you live near a park or nature reserve, take time just to breathe in the natural scents of flowers, trees and grass.

Puts you in a good mood, doesn’t it?

It’s something that people tend to overlook since they can often be too busy doing their work. But remember that all energy is created from the environment around us – including that which exists inside our bodies.

So next time you feel stressed or anxious, try taking some relaxing breaths while enjoying that comforting scent in the air around you. You might even notice that your mood lifts on its own!

“The sense of smell is the most powerful in terms of stimulating all five senses,” says Paul McKenna, a counselor and lecturer. “If you smell something that reminds you of someone who’s irritated you (the smell of their perfume, for example), it can really set off an emotional response.

“A walk through your home can release pent up emotions, particularly if the scent reminds you of something pleasant. Try turning on your favourite music while doing this if the space has been neglected, as this will add to the power of the experience.”

We smell to trigger memories – good and bad. It’s an important part of our being, so that we can learn from our experiences and create new ones.

3) Watch moving water

Remember an old adage, that “still waters run deep”?

It’s true – and there’s a scientific reason behind this.

The shapes of the waves are directly related to the vibrations of water, and our eyes can easily trace these forms to create visual images in our brains. These in turn release chemicals that affect our mood and put us in a good state for learning.

The same rule applies to the simple act of watching water flowing.

Many westerners prefer to stay indoors, or watch TV. But watching moving water is a great way to reset your mind and body – especially if you are feeling tense or sad.

Most people don’t know this, but this is one of the most effective ways on earth to stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system, which calms your body down.

Water has a unique ability to absorb and release energy, which makes it a perfect element to empower your life force.

Being near the sea, river or pond is recommended too, since water on the move collects the energy from its surroundings – much like trees do.

If you have a fish tank in your home, leave it on as soon as you wake up in the morning – fishes are excellent life force enhancers as they are constantly absorbing positive energy through their gills.

4) Breathing exercises

Ever feel stressed or maybe even depressed?

Try making a simple breathing exercise that can put you in the right state of mind and body.

It starts with deep, slow breathing for at least 30 seconds.

Many people use the downward dog position (also known as child’s pose) to help get into this state of relaxed focus – however, there are several variations on this rule.

The point is, there are different ways to achieve meditative states. Try experimenting until you find out which one works best for your personal life force energy type.

5) Night-time meditation

This may sound unusual, but it’s a great way to align your life force with the universe.

Try sitting down in the dark and close your eyes, both before falling asleep and when waking up.

You can create images in your head, or focus on another thought-form which you have created before.

A good example is meditating on the future, where you imagine what you would like to achieve during the day or the state of mind and being you want to achieve.

Another way to do this is by visualizing positive thoughts – these will fill your mind with positivity and optimism throughout the day and help keep you happy.

This awareness of positivity will draw in more of the same – thus strengthening your life force even more. It will also create a sense of calm in your mind.

6) Pray

Many people find that the prayers they offer are the most powerful ones to help them connect with their Higher Power.

Close your eyes and feel a sense of peace, love, and tranquility surrounding you. Deny any negative thoughts from entering your mind.

As you pray, focus on what you want to experience in life and ask for it – give thanks for whatever comes about as a result of this prayer, be it a new career or achievement.

To be honest, praying is a great way to connect with your higher self and thus enhance your life force energy.

We all have the power within us to change our lives. All it takes is a simple change in our mindset and an appreciation for the power of silence.

And remember, these are just some of the ways you can use to enhance your life force energy levels. There are no scientific reasons why these techniques work, but they do prove to be highly effective – taking me out of my rut through praying was one of the best decisions I ever made!

7) Release negative energy

Negative energy can come from other people, as well as within ourselves.

We all know that negative people can have a strange effect on our emotions. And sometimes we can be the cause of their negativity when we are overly critical of others or ourselves.

So to neutralize any negative energy, try visualizing it in blue light and sending it away from you – slowly at first and then more quickly.

You might also try visualizing your positive energy in a purplish-blue light, and imagine placing this “pink aura” around you for protection. Then, send this “pink light” to the negative person.

Once you have done this, you will find that their negativity has been dispersed and doesn’t affect you anymore. If anything, the other person may feel a sense of guilt for bringing about your sorrow and apologize for it.

But the simpler way to do this is just to stay away from people who gives off negative energy whenever you’re around them – if they are in your life, it is either your fault or theirs. If it’s yours, step up and realise it, and change your negative thoughts.

If it’s the other person’s fault, remove them from your life.

8) Positive affirmations

Positive affirmations help you to align with a higher vibration. Whatever you see as positive will help you obtain a positive mindset.

Each night before going to sleep, try writing down five things about the day that went well for you, or what could have improved but still managed to go well for you.

This will help you to create positive energy in your life.

Here are some positive affirmations that you can say every day:

  • I love my life.
  • I am in good health.
  • I am financially secure.
  • I am surrounded by positive people.
  • When I make mistakes, I learn from them.
  • I have great relationships with my family and friends.

Now, you may ask how often you should say positive affirmations? Well, most people find that it depends on their experience with positive affirmations.

The idea is that positive affirmations work best when they are used regularly. Certainly, I would wish to use them all the time as they have proven to be extremely effective.

Try saying positive affirmations for a day or two, and then go back to your normal activities (for example, as in normal life when you’re studying/working) – this will help you determine if they had any effect at all on your life force energy levels.

If you have done this, continue with the daily affirmations. If you didn’t notice any effect, perhaps don’t make any more of an effort – simply do them when you feel ready (as they will only work if your mind is in a state of readiness).

You may also want to take some time to write down all of your positive thoughts and feelings and then meditate on them. This will help reinforce the positive energy within your mind.

9) Visualisation of success, and appreciation for your life

Many people find that practicing gratitude can increase their vibration, thus increasing their life force energy and attracting positive events into their lives.

Every day, remind yourself why you want to be successful. Ask yourself if there is something you would like to change in your life – and then ask the universe which thing needs changing.

Bring to mind your goals and then imagine how accomplished you will feel once you have achieved them. Now, imagine the positive benefits of achieving these goals.

Keep in mind that it is not necessary to visualize it over and over again – all that is required is for you to just visualize it and then go on with your day with a positive mindset.

In fact, doing this too much can have the opposite effect on you – as this will make you more eager for success, thus draining your life force energy quicker.

So visualize the goals you want to achieve once in the morning and once before going to bed.

10) Writing your goals down

Writing down your goals helps to reinforce them, and also makes you accountable for them. Creating goals is a great way to meet new people – so, if you are feeling lonely, go ahead and make some new friends.

Creative writing can help you to think in more advanced terms – imagine how successful you will feel when achieving your goal, how wonderful it will be. Try to write it as though it is already in existence, not just a dream.

You may want to make a “shopping list” for the things you need for achieving your goal as well.

Writing down all of these helps keep the thoughts in mind and keeps the positive energy flowing into your life.

11) Keeping a gratitude journal

When was the last time you were grateful?

Keeping a gratitude journal is another way to remind yourself of why you want happiness and success in your life.

Again, make sure you focus on what you appreciate and what you would like to change. Reflect upon how much more successful your life will be when correcting the things that are bothering you.

It is way better to keep something to remind you of the things you are thankful for every day – even if it only takes a couple of minutes.

Think of the people who make your life better, help you to achieve goals, or simply just make you feel happier. There are many people in our world who help us to work towards our goals and improve our lives – so reflect on them and think of how they would improve yours – see then that it will make you grateful!

It is not necessary to write down the same thing every day – simply write down one thing that happened at the start of each day that made your day better, or a feeling of relief that something negative has passed.

Trust me, this will help you to maintain a positive mindset at all times.

12) Regular health checkups

Regular health checkups can help you to maintain a healthy body, which will in turn bring balance to your life.

Your body is the vessel that carries your soul throughout this existence – and if your body isn’t in a healthy state, how are you supposed to be happy or successful? Besides, having regular medical checkups can help you detect any issues with your body before they become worse.

By maintaining a regular schedule of checkups, you ensure that there’s nothing wrong with your internal system, and thus nothing wrong with you. It is only when you are at peace with yourself that you can be successful in life because your body and mind are healthy.

13) Five minutes of meditation per day

While many people believe that it takes a lot of time to meditate, that’s not always the case. You may not have time to sit for an hour – or even twenty minutes – but five minutes is just about enough to keep you productive throughout your day.

By sitting down for just five minutes every morning, and then again before going to bed, you can increase your daily productivity by 100%. It doesn’t take long, but the results will be amazing for all aspects of your life.

Sitting in the presence of just your own thoughts, with nothing else to think about, can help you to stay positive because it allows you to concentrate on the present moment.

Not only do you become more relaxed in this state, but you become more productive as well.

Studies have shown that when people are introduced to meditation and are taught how to meditate effectively, they produce at least twice as much work than they would if they hadn’t learnt how.

If you feel like being productive at home, allocate two hours every day for this purpose – simply sit down and be silent.

If you follow these steps, you can bring peace to your mind – and that is the first step towards happiness. You can achieve your goals if you are a happy person, as this will reduce any obstacles that may appear to be in your way.

Having a positive mindset is not just about happiness – it’s also about success.

Having a positive mindset helps you to discover successful outcomes in every situation, and thus having a positive mindset helps you bring out the best of what life has to offer.

By implementing the above practices into your life, you’ll soon see how much more positive and happy you can be – and this will help you greatly when working towards your goal. After all, it is only with happiness that we can truly achieve our goals in life.
